I came here for a Donovan Promotions Club Party a few weeks ago. Apparently my SF bros say Donovan throws the sickest parties up there? Anyways the club itself was sick. It was just the right size big enough to comfortable walk around and work the room. They got an upstairs lounge and a main dance floor that was big and another seperate bar lounge area. That night there were good number of fine ladies and everyone was dressed upscale like it was the Grammy Awards or something. I did not eat there but I heard the food was pretty good as well.

Love, love, love this place. After attending the Lights. Camera. Help. Film Festival Saturday night my boyfriend and I were starving given we'd sat through several films that took us through 10pm (good stuff btw). Undecided on where to grab a bite and a cocktail, I opted for Red House which was even better given he had never been there before. Just as expected, the patio was filled as was the inside. What I loved about this particular night was that there was an array of people--old (grandparent age), hip, students, southies, yuppies, dogs :), you name it. Not that there is never an array of peeps, it's just that I had never seen grandparents there before :) especially this late; and there were a couple of groups of them. While waiting in line, we met a really friendly couple and chatted it up and even exchanged biz cards. They ordered pizza while we ordered the spinach and mushroom calzone, a blue moon and a yummy grapefruit martini. The bartender was incredibly friendly, but unfortunately the waitress (short blond bob haircut) must have been having a bad night. Not even a smile, but will chalk it up to 'one of those nights' because it won't deter me from going back. I am sure she'll be better on the next round. We sat outside at the two-seater table by the entrance gate--I love the vintage chairs--and enjoyed the nice breeze, outside lights and overall atmosphere. When we ordered the blue moon, they had to refill the tap and the bartender offered to bring the beer out to us--which is a major brownie point given he was the only one serving and people were waiting to order. It took about 10 min for the beer, and only about a 15 minute wait on our food and our server was as friendly and cordial as they come--smile and all. We didn't mind the wait given our own awesome conversation we were having. The calzone was perfect--oozing with the right amount of ricotta and the veggies were tender. The marinara was at room temperature--so next time I'll just ask if they can heat it up, but it was delicious. We wrapped around midnight after last call, and left absolutely content and ready for round two this week!

Good little place and the drinks are poured strong. I don't quite understand the allure of people waiting an hour just to get in to this place but its not bad if you're in a pinch for a place to dance in the highlands. Its worth noting that I went for a disco night and they didn't play much disco at all and if you're not a fan of second hand smoke, you might want to skip this place. It gets pretty gross in there.
