Ruby Skye is a great place to go whenever one of your favorite DJ's is in town, especially for a poor college student like me who can't afford to go to all the big events or fly out to Ibiza. I've seen Kyau and Albert and Rank 1 there for about $15 each and both were amazing. I have friends who have also been there to see Ferry Corsten, Wippenberg, Cosmic Gate, Armin van Buuren, John O' Callaghan, and a bunch of other top ranking EDM headliners. The venue itself is one of the nicest I've been to. It's clean, well ventilated, and well decorated, though admittedly a little bit small. The events I've been to are an interesting medium between rave and club. That being said, you can get some..... interesting people there. People generally tend to be pretty chill and the vibe is pretty good. I would say the rave-vibe would be more prevalent than the club-vibe more often than not. Most of the non-Friday/Saturday night events are ages 18+ (as opposed to the usual 21+). I would say one of the best perks of Ruby Skye is that they always let the headliners run late (~3-4AM) and, unlike many other venues, let the DJ's come down and mingle a little bit after their performances. If you want an autograph from someone, wait until they come to Ruby Skye, and wait around after. You'll probably get one. Overall, I give it 4 stars for a great venue and great headliners. I dock it one star just because parking is a bitch (I know, it's SF but still, I hate having to walk 12 blocks at 4AM).

I love the concept of locally sourced, made in-house ingredients but the truth is -- for a lot of the people I dined with --- the food just didn't live up to the reputation (don't order the chocolate pasta with lamb..) This restaurant is trendy and in a great location (tucked beside Piedmont Park) but you need to pay extra to valet your car. Miller lights are $6. * The burgers are the thing to get!
