I went to this venue for a special party called "Get Ritch To This," last Saturday. This was my first time being back in this venue in at least two years. All of the rumors that I had heard about were true, the remodeling that they had done was excellent. There was a second bar and dance area that was added, along with plush leather booths, and a fresh coat of paint. Everything about this club screams "ultra-lounge," yet the vibe, drink prices, and staff were more representative of an industry club. There was a nice ratio of men to women, and overall vibe was very chill. I would definitely stop in here again. The alleyway location is classic SF.

The first time I had lunch at Koriente, I noticed the Beauty Bar was next door. I asked my friend if she'd care to go to dance sometime as their aesthetic is relevant to my interests. She agreed to accompany on a future occasion. Fast forward to Junior Boys at The Mohawk. They announced a dj set at the booty bar. Huh? My friend was really excited and yelled, through an outdoor crowd, that they were playing at "THAT PLACE YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT!" I was unimpressed. "I'VE NEVER HEARD OF THE BOOTY BAR IN MY LIIIIIIIFE. WHAT IS IT!?" "NO. BEEEEAUUUUUUTYYYYYY!" "WHAT!?" "IT'S NEXT TO THAT KOREAN PLACE!" "Oh. The Beauty Bar. Ok." I felt silly. So after the show, we decided to run to the beauty bar. I'm not sure why--chalk it up to being young and carefree--but it was exhilarating. Not so invigorating was the five dollar cover. :'( Whatevz. It's Junior Boys. She'll pay it and I'll appreciate it! We get in and the dj's spinning are pretty great. Two ladies on the dance floor are getting raunchy. I'm not sure what to do with my hoodie. OMG A PHOTOBOOTH. (Don't use it. It suuuuuuucks.) So we kill time by dancing and dranking a few dranks. Finally The Junior Bros come and set up their stuff. My friend, who'd been admiring the lead singer from afar during the entire show, decided she'd buy him a drink. After a few pushes from me, she finally went up to him, tapped him on the shoulder and did her thang. REJECTED! Poor girl. I felt pretty bad, but he said he didn't drink...and he didn't want water. Haha. She was so embarrassed, she wanted to just leave. Uhm, unh uhhhh. I'mma get you another drank and we're gonna dance... Unfortunately Junior Bros' are better musicians than DJ's. I dunno what they were playing, but I wasn't really feeling it. I was, however, feeling tipsy. So when singer bro went to the bar to get some juice, I went to get some water. As he was leaving, I asked him how he was feeling. Said he was doing a lot better and I said my friend in Tucson said that they put on a good show despite him being sick. He was like, yeah I was really sick in Tucson. Then he's like, "I can't hear you...let's go outside." I was like ALRIGHT. Ended up talking to him for a while. My friend watched the whole thing happen and eventually came up and joined us in conversation. We talked to his British friend until they kicked us out because the place was closed. My friend was like WHAT WAS THAT!? I was like, just a little conversation with a junior bro. No big deal. Minus one star for the stupid photobooth.
