by Lans S. on As an LA native who grew up with Culver City in my backyard, I am still surprised at how much the area has developed. Luckily, not in the bad way. They've subtly revamped the neighborhood, maintaining the quiet, old charm while adding some great new bars, shops, and restaurants that have proven to be awesome, off-the-beaten-path joints for the locals to enjoy. When I stumbled across the historic Culver Hotel, I couldnt believe I'd missed this gem all my life. Granted, I havent lived in LA for the past 7 years, but still... So, we go in for happy hour and thoroughly enjoy our cocktails! The sun was beaming in through the wall of windows to the west and the place was radiant. Reading the notes in the menu, we learned the background of the hotel - many of the legendary Hollywood greats from back in the day stayed here during film productions... I love it. Cool, classic, and sophisticated, minus the bougie. Who knew!
by Son Glotzbecker on Anytime you head to the Castro you are pretty much guaranteed a great time. Throw in some endless mimosas with brunch and you really are going to have a blast. Although it was a Sunday afternoon and most people were probably at home relaxing before the work week started again - I was out at Lime getting my drink and groove on. Walking down Market street I can already hear the music blasting from Lime a block away. My first step in there and all i can see was tons of people dancing holding their mimosas and having a SUPERB time. It was a little strange to see such a club environment in a middle of a day but I was down to try something new. We were seated and the waitress quickly screamed over the blaring music "WHO WANTS MIMOSAS????" Seems they knew what was most important when coming into Lime. Shoot for $6 for unlimited mimosas i guess that takes top priority. The menu was short so I knew right away I wanted the eggs benedict. The food was good but not the best I've had. Lime is a great brunch place to go with a small group of friends. The rich culture and characters there in Castro will guarantee a unique experience. Also, endless mimosas will always make the experience extra fun!
by Winford Galassi on College dive-bar feeling, jukebox, dart boards, pool tables, hot popcorn in the corner with a bitchy waitress and loud patrons. These are a few of my favorite things! Not a "hey let's go there tonight!" place but if you happen to be in walking distance, chiggity check it out.
