by Christine B. on Personally, there was nothing special to me about this place at all. You have to wait a long time to try to get in (the guys we were with just ended up getting a table b/c it was hopeless trying to get in otherwise) and once inside, the decor was just alright. Music was ... unremarkable. Just normal. They also cook hot dogs inside the club. One of the guys bought the hot dog for $5 and all it was, was a hot dog with mustard. A vendor was selling real dirty dogs right outside the exit (beneath the staircase) and THAT truly smelled good and worth buying.
by Rebbeca Vorwald on My review for the restaurant portion will be short. I have only eaten at Medjool a couple of times and it was just to get something in my system before a night of debauchery and tom foolery. The food is broken up in 3 categories, North African, Southern European, and Middle Eastern cuisine. The portions are on the lighter side but the food is very good. The following items are my top picks in their category: North African: Sesame Crusted Tempura Shrimp, Grapefruit Reduction, Avocado-Grapefruit Salad. $14.00. Awesome! Might want x2 order. Southern European: Seared Sea Scallops, Forage Mushrooms, Dungeness Crab Hollandaise, Watercress. $13.00 Mini Grass Fed Beef Wellingtons Trio of Sauces; Red Wine, Truffle & Horseradish. - $18.00. Well worth it! Middle Eastern: Medjool Sampler with Hummus, Tabbouleh and Baba Ghanouj. $13.00. A must try! Nightlife: Let me start off by saying, "THIS PLACE IS HUGE!". Medjool has three levels, ground floor, mezzanine, and a Sky terrace. All levels get crowded but I have never felt overcrowded on all levels at the same time. If the Sky terrace is packed, you can move to one of the other levels for a break. Each level has a fully stocked bar and bartenders get to you in a timely fashion. DJ plays music from Eastern influence all the way to Hip Hop, Dance, and Top 40. If you are single, the ratio is pretty much even for guys and girls. Also, Medjool is connected to a hostel called, Elements Hotel. So you can meet people from all over the world. Dress code is pretty relaxed, no hoodies, hats, or sportswear. If you get to Medjool early and have a bite, you don't have to worry about a Cover charge. Cover is not bad, I believe it was $10 last time I was there.
by Vernita Maclay on I came here a couple of years ago on Mothers Day for their Mothers Day brunch and it was greaaaaaaaaat. I honestly couldn't tell you what I ate but I know it was delish. I went the other day with family (who, might I add, was paying), so I indulged -- just so I could write a great review for you, rateclubs! (Or it could have been because I didn't have to pull out my debit card :) It was a Thursday evening and the place was packed -- mostly smaller parties with a couple of large parties sprinkled throughout. The bread/hummus they bring out upon seating is excellent...I especially like the breadsticks. We ordered several appetizers and I enjoyed them all -- calamari, grilled shrimp, beef stroganoff (I didn't have any room on my plate for this one, but my family liked it) and the riscotti croquettes...really, really good! They look like fat mozzarella cheesesticks...but they surely don't taste anything like them. I love the lighting in the bathroom! Seriously, I almost took a picture...lol. My entree was the salmon with couscous and greek yogurt. and parmesan herb fries. I must say the salmon had an interesting taste (as did the parmesan herb fries but they were good), but I liked it. I don't think I would order it again though. I really like salmon by itself, with maybe a little bit of sauce on the side. The couscous and greek yogurt threw me off a little bit, but I am always willing to try something new! I had to sweeten my own tea :-( For dessert, one of my cousins ordered the chocolate truffle cake and my other cousin ordered the banana bread pudding. Both were delish, but I absolutely LOVE chocolate so the chocolate truffle cake wins. I want to try the snapper. But, really, I'm just trying to get back for the Mothers Day brunch.
