I just went here for the first time last night (Friday night). And it was a lot of fun! A lot of very friendly tourists in town, had a lot of fun meeting people from around the world. There was a good mix of ages, I think the youngest person I met was 26 all the way up to a 75+ year old guy. On average, age is 30's-40's. It was way better by the end of the night when the dj started playing. There was jazz-type band that played, they were good, but I prefer dancing to watching slow jams. The staff there is super super friendly and really went out of their way for us. The only slightly annoying pretentious people were a couple of bouncers, but hey, at least they are cute! The bartenders were pretty awesome as well. Some key points that stand out for me: *Remember to reserve a table if you want to hang out and chat with friends before the evening heats up! *Dress code - you can go in jeans and a nice top, all the way up to a nice evening dress, it all fits in here *The food and drinks are pricey, but it is a hotel bar, and you do get a magnificent view, nothing like dancing next to huge windows overlooking SF! totally amazing *Very very small wine list, no beer on tap, but plenty of premium spirits *Food selection is so so, would be nice if they gave reserved tables some light snack, esp considering we ordered food/drinks and our tab was well over $300. Some pretzels maybe?? *Not a place I would go to ALL the time, but definitely a fun place to go with friends for a special occasion *We did not pay a cover charge - not sure if that was just because it was a Friday night or because we got there fairly early (around 7:30) Go with good people, a good time is what you make it! I'll definitely be back.

If you are looking for that perfectly unique SF venue to hold your wedding, look no further than the GAMH. My husband and I just got hitched here (10/18/08) and we simply cannot have dreamed of a better event. From the decor, to the food, to the band, we had an amazing day/night and owe a ton of that to the GAMH staff. Kim Murphy was fantastic - she has this great relaxed personality/style for handling all the details leading up to the event (which helps keep you calm!) and then is all business on your special day, making sure everything goes off w/o a hitch. Everyone was gushing over the beautiful venue, the fantastic food, the pleasant service, the lighting, the music, literally everything. We truly had an epic wedding and we know you will too if you choose this location. Tip - you may want to take some pre-ceremony photos if you are having your ceremony at the GAMH (we did). We went to Alamo Square before hand and now have beautiful outdoor and indoor pics from our special day!

I loved this place!!!!!!!!! I went on a friday night, and I had an absolute ball!!!!!!! There was no fighting, no bouncer bullshit. In fact the line moved quite quickly, and security was tight. There were sooooo many options of where to dance and hang out, that I lost 5 pounds running around the club that night. The girls are pretty, the guys are hot, and everyone dances. I love the fact the guys dance out here!!!!!! In LA, fuckers stand against the wall and front all night. Not here, girls don't think you're too cute to dance, cuz the guys will "walk it out" by themselves. I wish i could post the photos I took just to show you the energy of the crowd in side. I loved this place. The bartenders were awesome, they were all smiles, though I think half of them were a bit tipsy they were pleasant and friendly. Ladies be sure to come dressed to impress. I'm going to keep it real. this place has some of the most beautiful black women in US. I'm competitive, and i don't like for anyone to out dress me, and I was outdone, by many many women. There are a few hootrats sprinkled into the crowd, but it probably enhances the energy and incredible atmostphere. I loved this place!!!!!!!!!!
