by Nadene Castin on I remember this bar when it was a little more than just a traditional Irish bar in Sunnyside. I did't live in the neighborhood but I do now. This place went through a big renovation and has become the area's contemporary watering hole. The food selection is better than the other local choices of the average American greasy pallet you would find at a diner (Pete's Grill, but thats another review) but still fully stocked with deep fried, cheesy choices which are sure to satisfy your taste buds and clog an artery or two as well as really healthy tasty choices. The service is incredible and the bar staff are all Irish and friendly and welcoming. The owners are always there and always accommodating. The clientele is diverse. and Thursdays are really crowded due to a drink special they have on those nights. That night seems to be the only one that attracts a crowd from outside the neighborhood but they are well dressed and well behaved. Nothing but kudos for this establishment and its staff. A little pricey but worth it. Pretty tasty, pretty staff, pretty friendly and pretty spendy.
by Lizbeth Kovalaske on Well, you've heard it before, the Varsity is a great place to go FOR THE EXPERIENCE. Travel through time by stopping by and stepping into the Varsity. The food? Greasy and not that yummy. Also, it's kind of expensive for what it is. Overall, come on by ! for the experience and make sure you grab a hat. Don't expect anything spectacular from the food, my fries were soggy from the grease.
by Alicia C. on I went to Cafe Circa this past weekend for Atlanta Restaurant Week and had one of my worst restaurant experiences ever. We arrived promptly for our 5.30pm dinner reservations and was seated at the high bar tables in the middle of the floor. It wasn't my ideal seating arrangement, but I wasn't compelled to request another seat. The restaurant was near full, and only one table on the side and the large booth in the back available. We waited 10-12 minutes for someone to come and take our drink orders, but no server arrived. There were at least 3 servers on the floor in addition to 2 food runners on the floor that night. I finally flagged someone down. Our waitress seemed a little inept, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was her first time serving. We ordered 2 beers and an unsweet tea and also put in our food orders at the same time. 15 minutes after our order was taken, the waters arrived. 10 minutes after that, our beers arrived in the bottles. 10 minutes after that, utensils and plates arrived. By the time I finished my beer 10 minutes after that, neither the unsweet tea or appetizers arrived at our table. I was so disturbed by how slow everything was that I insisted to my party that we leave and go somewhere else. The ambiance and decor was fantastic, and the people working there were friendly but vastly inefficient. The floor manager was nonexistent. The food on other people's tables seemed appetizing, but I will never know since I do not plan on setting foot in this establishment again.
