by Carson Kuchel on Hadn't been here in a while and took in the DJ Dan set the other night. Man this place brings back memories. I remember when it was the Palace. It's still the same old decor, the same set up. You enter to the foyer, head out to the main dance floor and the bar or you can hit the upstairs and go up into the bleacher type seats and enjoy the set or hang out on the balconies. Usually this is where I hang out- upstairs. If it weren't for the dj sets that the Giant team hosts at this venue, I'd probably never come here. Whether that means a normal set or afterhours, it's fun to see the big name dj's. Otherwise, I've seen various bands here and it's just not the same without the blaring house and electro music, glassy eyed patrons pumping glow sticks as they dance, and the shirtless sweaty men that congregate here. I rarely make it out for afterhours, but if I do, I know the spot is at Avalon. It's just a dependable staple of Hollywood nightlife.
by Daron Larriuz on Clean place, central location, plenty of space, friendly professional staff, great tacos: $2 taco Tuesdays...I went 2 in a row just to try them all ;) and GREAT MUSIC. I did my birthday there last January and one of my friends liked it so much she had her birthday the month after.
by Christopher D. on Crappy neighborhood and not hip anymore. Not a classy club at all. I give it 3 stars because we met Jerry Rice once at 181 and I had some good times here 3 years ago.
