by Hoa T. on Family style Italian that will leave you stuffed. I always feel like I need to be rolled away when I walked out of this place. The food is consistently good. The service is fast and friendly. I particularly like their frutti de mare. The pasta is perfectly cooked with plenty of seafood not just a few mussels and clams here and there. The pizzas are awesome too with crispy thin crusts. I dream of this place sometimes.
by Sam L. on We went to the Vanguard for a UCLA special event, where the promoters had promised an open bar until 11. Most of the students arrived before 11 (when the main club is empty) and paid $10 to park, only to stand in a long line that (surprise) wasn't moving. At 10:30 they started letting people in, which involved a thorough pat down (like the terrorist suspect line at the airport) and a lot getting ordered around. Once inside, the space was nice, but we were informed by the bartender that the open bar had ended at 10:30 and that (weak) well drinks were now $10. It's hard to imagine paying to go into a place like this.
