by Susie Q. on I live in Manhattan and went to this place with several female friends, as we had an out-of-towner with us who wanted to "experience" the meat packing district. All sophisticated professionals in our 30s. Was dancing with my girl friends minding my own business when a random guy who I had never seen before pushed up against me on the dance floor and lifted my skirt from behind to expose my butt and wouldn't get away from me. I went to find a manager to try and get him removed from the club. Incredulously, she told me, "Honey, he was just admiring you...he's as gay as they come." When I went to find the "real" manager of the hotel that also owns the boom boom room, Stefan, he was also a complete jerk. His first question was not whether I was ok, but who our reservation had been under. Despite the fact that our group had been well behaved and had dropped over $600 at the club, he wouldn't give out his contact information to me despite being asked three times, lied to me about whether or not they had asked the guy who assaulted me to leave the club, and was generally an all around snob and coward. You know the type - thinks he's better than everyone else with no reason for it. This entire incident could have been easily resolved if they had just said to me that they sorry that happened and the guy has been asked to leave. It was the unacceptable, snobby and unprofessional behavior of the management of this place that led to the escalation and having to ask them to call the police to resolve it instead. Too bad I couldn't bring charges against the hotel's manager that night. Andre Balazs, are you reading this? You should fire him in a heartbeat.
by Hayden Buhr on The acoustics are great and the elevated stage and medium size means you are always close to the band (always a plus in my book). The drinks are pricey so I stick to beer. Some great bands have played some great shows here including Zero 7, Coldplay and Mogwai but I haven't been to a show here in over a year.
