I wanted this to be a dive, which I always love, but it's totally not a dive, and not what I expected from the neighborhood. I felt like I walked into a Pottery Barn in terms of its decor and clientèle, meh. But everything else was good. It was dimly lit with candles and flowers all around and jazz playing. Great! The microbrew selection is very good and pretty cheap, but the bartender didn't know anything about any of the beers. We were all happy with our choices though and she did offer samples. The music level was perfect and I could actually hold a conversation with friends without having to scream. Not into the decor or yuppies, but the music, dim (romantic) lighting, and great beer will keep me coming back.

I only really go to Fluid on Sunday nights for Fast, Cheap and Out of Control, an ongoing weekly party that features punk, hardcore, electroclash and 80's dark pop with amateur go-go dancers and the Philly-wide special. It's hit or miss lately because it's been going on for so long. But I love Psydde Delicious who is the original promoter of the night and who also frequently DJ's. There's nothing that gets my blood moving more than well-chosen punk rock. The club itself is kind of lame. It's small, the drinks are not cheap (or fast for that matter) and it has a garish mirrored unisex bathroom. I like the little back alcove because it tends to feel like a VIP room when the dancers pile in. I don't know what the club is like for other nights, but it suits FC&OC.
