One of the hardest clubs to get into, luckily I knew people who got me in for an afterparty that let me in. Perfect. One of the top I'd recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy a clubbing experience.
by Valorie Huckabone on I have been to Bimbo's numerous times over the past 10+ years and have seen some great performances, most recently Sandra Bernhard -- stellar as usual-- but also Super Diamond and Lisa Stansfield. It is still the single best venue to see a show in my Big Book of performance venues. The biggest drawback for me is that they don't serve food. You're at a table and they have an incredible kitchen, but NO FOOD. Even The Warfield serves food for none musical performances. I was so hungry I went up the block to Rico's to have the worst burrito experience of my life (see my review). They took so long that I didn't have time to eat the burrito before the show started AND they wont let you bring in outside food, so I had to sneak it in and sit through the show starving with a big fat burrito sitting under my chair. But Sandra made me forget my hunger pains. I swooned when she stopped at our table and performed.
