by Shafaq C. on Went with some friends from out of town, so thought i'd check out the spot in Union Square. The bouncer, Jason, is actually a really nice guy. Yeah you might haveto talk him into comps or reduced, but atleast he's polite... other bouncers will be so full of themselves, they won't even look at you. We got in 4 girls 1 guy and managed to get the girls comped and the guy reduced to $10. The music inside was techno all night with lots of europeans... not really my thing so i wasn't exactly dancing all over the place, but it was okay. The people I was with were fun so it was a cool night overall.
by Elijah Froedge on This place has withstood the test of time as being a truly great place! The secret has been out for a long time... I've been to 111 Minna probably a couple dozen times, mostly on Wednesdays to groove out to the techno music and unwind with friends and get a buzz to help me make it through the rest of the week... Rarely does it disappoint....The combination of the great space and layout of the place, along with the usually unique artwork, great music, good vibes, and decents drinks is really hard to beat. For Wednesday's a $5 cover will get you in the door and if you come early you'll get in for free. The music is reliably loud and good, and year after year...rarely if ever have I been let down by the DJ's. The space fills in quickly on Wednesday and probably the biggest problem is not having enough space to move around, as it can get completely packed, and that's probably my only complaint. On Wednesdays, this place attracts a good mixed crowd of hotties, a mix of both attractive guys and girls...usually a good amount of semi-artistic types...some from the Art Academy, lotsa of international peeps and a very lively mix of all types....It is hopping with lots of people dressed up and looking FINE..... Over the years, Wednesday has gotten the reputation as being a bit of a pick-up night...with some pick-up action going on.... The lines for the bars on this packed night can be painful and I usually go to the 2nd bar in the small room to get my drinks. Drink pours are solid and reasonably priced and I've always had good service here. Dancing is commonplace in the smaller room, while people mingle in the main room where there are some but limited places to sit. This place is hopping on wednesdays from 5pm until 10pm, with most peeps arriving probably around 7ish and leaving around 9:30.....com'on it is a school night after all, can't party down all night on Wednesday can we?.. Oh Yes, you can..... For after 10pm action it has become the norm that a large contingent from Minna will go to Anu some blocks away.... It can be a lot of fun to keep the party going at Anu and I definitely recommend that you try it at least once or twice. The party at Anu can sometimes be twice as fun...maybe that's because the alcohol has started to kick in... Enjoy...you might just run into me one of these upcoming Wednesday's....
by Jeromy Seip on I've been to this place a few times and everytime I've gone I've always had so much fun. Recently I went for Halloween and this place was crazy packed. It was asian night...promoted by Go Productions. Some friends got there at 8pm even though they didn't open until 9pm and didn't get into the club until around 10:30pm. Luckily we got VIP passes so didn't have to really wait in a long line. Inside there is a lot of room to dance which I like since that is the reason I still go clubbing. They have a small smoking patio too if you want to get away from the loud noise and actually talk. The bartenders are really cute and make the drinks pretty strong. Drinks are pricey though with shots costing about $10.
