I have been wanting to try this club for a while, but was always hesitant to venture out into the Alley for dance clubs for price and getting my friends motivated. But I ended up winning a free party (table + bottle of champagne) for me and a few of my friends, so we got dolled up and decided to give it a go. When we got to the club and I told them about the free party, the bouncers looked a little perplexed and it took them a few minutes to figure out what we were talking about. We were also supposed to have line privileges but we got there early enough not to have to worry about that... I have a feeling that if we tried to use our privilege it wouldn't have worked because the bouncers were too unorganized. The free party was awesome! They took us to the balcony and seated us and gave us one of those huge bottles of Crane Lake champagne. The waitress was dressed in a lacy corset, which was pretty snazzy. However, she wouldn't wait on us for cocktails or beers, just bottle service... which was a little strange but the bar was 2 feet away so we didn't mind too much. Drink prices weren't bad. I saw a guy get a Corona for $6, and my friends got vodka/tonics for $10. My boyfriend scared the living daylights out of me for saying he had to pay $17/shot at one of the Alley clubs; but I got a red bull/vodka for only $12, which is around what I usually expect to pay anyway. Once we were nice and liquored up, we hit the dance floor. It's definitely much more enjoyable to bring a big group of fun-loving girls to a place like this. We tried to dance on the catwalk, but the bouncer politely told us he still had to clear it w/ his manager before we could get up there. Didn't matter, a few minutes later some employees in lingerie were dancing, which might sound trashy but it was actually really awesome - kind of like a PG-13 strip club. By this point in the night I was pretty smashed (sorry to any below reviewers if I stepped on your toes, yelled in your ear or fell on top of you) but I remember meeting some awesome people. Sidenote: if you have issues with personal space, don't come here - everyone likes to get up close and personal. Just deal w/ it, it's part of the experience. The space itself is so awesome. Like someone said below, it's like an old-fashioned opera house. The decor is really, really luxurious and it's definitely something to see. The only thing I would have docked a point for: the next morning, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw a $400 charge from the Estate on my credit card when I only ordered one cocktail at the bar. I was flipping out for 2 days, but Dave the VIP manager emailed me and said it was just a mistake in the system. I'll never use my credit card there again, but he was very apologetic and the charge is being dropped. Hint: if girls get there before 11pm on Saturday, you get in for free! Friends who came to join me said they got in at 11:02 and they still weren't charged, phew! Otherwise it's a $20 cover I think.

Stephen Starr, I am over you. The Continental does have interesting decor and a menu with variety... but the food is sub-par, the service is slow, and the wine list is typical. The cocktails are interesting... like the squirt and the buzz aldrin, but it's not enough for me to keep coming back. I think when a server asked my 15 year old sister if she wanted a cocktail... I think that was pretty much the last straw. Maybe he was going to card her, but my guess would be not. Fusion is on the way out anyway, but if I were you I would try somewhere with less glitter and actually decent food.

A promoter for Dolce found us shopping on Friday afternoon, and standing on an excessively hot street corner, gave us the rundown on how their promoting works. No, he can't get us in free, but he can get us to the front of the line. Sounded kinda lame till we showed up and found that there is not really a line... just a mass of people surrounding the entrance. Yes, I decided... front of the pack, saving half an hour of standing in 3" heels is worth $20. Inside, the atmosphere is nice enough... standard club. Small Latin/hip hop room to the left, giant electonica floor ahead. I wasn't feeling any of the music, so I explore a bit and find that although they block off one side of VIP, the other is completely open. We walk in and start dancing next to the stage, which would have a swimsuit fashion show later in the evening, and are soon invited to partake of drinks at a VIP booth near the stage. suwheet! $20 is well spent at this point. I agree that the staff is friendly... case in point, Muhammed the white bearded VIP post is awesome. Also, bathrooms are nice. It's a standard big club experience. More hip hop would have been great... with more danceable music it would have had four stars.
