by Rebecca D. on I went to THE Mayan once to see The Format live. It was a great show and I liked the stadium seating with no chairs. It felt intimate. The venue itself was/is gorgeous. The drink prices were a bit outrageous, but that's normal round them parts. Also, if I remember correctly, there's a taco shop near by which comes in handy pre and post concert. The only thing I don't get is why it's now being called "Club Mayan". The Mayans lived in wooden/stone houses with thatched roofs. Just sayin'. ;)
by Melvina Harkley on This place totes screwed me over. I planned a happy hour for my college here. I did my due diligence, called in advance and they were all "no problem" about everything. The space is big and the rotating art display is nice. arrived. The music was way too loud, the mojitos were way too sweet, there was a big catwalk and a modeling show, which prompted them to charge a $5 cover. They don't serve food until 7. The bartenders kept on ignoring me overall.
by Kara Gormley on Seriously what is wrong with this place? I hadn't been in ages and ages, and you know what? Now I remember why. Complete and utter incompetence. How can a place screw up so epically, particularly when you have one of the best damn sky decks in town. This is how... 1. You don't serve iced tea. No joke. ICED TEA. The waiter looked at me like I'd ordered breast milk from a virgin (see point 3 below). 2. You encourage meat eating bees to terrorize chicken skewers and fly between legs. I finally just agreed to share (it all). 3. You hire waiters who are: 1) Stoned as f**ck. 2) Dropped on their heads (repeatedly, hard) as children. 3) From a special needs work exchange program. (I'm obviously going to hell. See you there.)
