I don't think I can have a better time at any place. I guess I can say this only because it was my real first time going to a karaoke bar. I liked the privacy and the song selection here. It almost seemed that there wasn't enough time to sing. I wanted more. The only thing was that the price could have been better, but I couldnt really compare it to anywhere else. I liked how they had two tvs on opposite sides of the wall to help those that were sitting on the sides. The only thing that sucked was the fact that a friend's car was stolen at the end of the night. I guess we could have parked in the back and payed but I think it was fine. I would come back any night to do it again.

As if I didn't have enough reasons to hate hipsters. I really don't understand the hipster PBR fetish that's developed these last few years. Let's be real, if this weren't the trendy thing to drink right now, you'd give me the yuckface and mosey your skinny-jean wearing ass thataway every time you spotted me suckling from one. And let's not pretend like the hipster community has suddenly discovered the merits of thrift, and is drinking PBR because it's cheap. These are the same people who pay $300 for a pair of shoes and $48 for a silk-screened tee. When I'm enjoying the refreshing value (notice I didn't say "taste") of a Natty Light, I don't see any HUF fitteds bobbing towards me to inquire where I copped the sweet beverage, now do I? Nope, this whole PBR-in-a-brown-paper-bag movement is the 21+ version of a Von Dutch trucker hat. That having been said, El Rio has dirt cheap PBR and a really dope venue. I wish I liked the music they play, cuz I'd spend way more time here. As of now they're on some rock shit, which does not appeal to my breakbeat-biased ears, but it's a cool place to go when there aren't bands playing. 3 stars for the bar, bonus star for the patio. edit: just noticed this is listed as a "Gay Bar", too. Obviously that wasn't the night I went! (nhjic).

I can't really remember how we ended up here but I had a great time while I was there. It was cozy, the drinks were good, and it wasn't super crowded. I could actually have a conversation with my friends without having to scream and there were places to sit! It seemed like a somewhat random location but I think that's what I liked about it. I didn't feel like I was in the midst of north beach or the marina.
