We were told we couldn't visit Atlanta without trying South City Kitchen, and I'm so glad we did! Our server was maybe a little strange (overenthused? awkward?), but very helpful and fun. We both had the Back Porch, which is an ah-mazing bourbon and ginger cocktail. We started with fried green tomatoes, which was easily the star of the night, and some really flavorful chicken livers. The complimentary biscuits and corn bread muffins were fresh, hot, and sweet, especially when slathered with a little bit of butter. I ordered fried chicken, and my husband got the jambalaya, which purportedly "had a kick." My chicken was everything I expected from Southern-fried chicken (crispy, tender on the inside), except perhaps a little lacking in salt. Anyway, so I loved the place, though I did find it a tad expensive for what we got.

Buddy 1 says: "get the sausage" Buddy 2 says: "get the sausage and brisket platter" Buddy 1 was right, but I would never have known unless I listened to buddy 2. You know when you go to the supermarket and they hand out those toothpick tastes of sausage that are so yummy and then you get home and cook the sausage and it just isn't as good when you're eating the whole thing? Well, this sausage is just like that except for the part where you eat it in an airport instead of your house and it is f'awesome instead of not as good. The brisket is decent but not earth shattering and the sweet BBQ sauce they include with the platter is perfect on everything. Also, they have some super soft white bread (extra sugar in there too maybe?) that soaks up the sauce surplus nicely. The other sides they give you are OK. Do it!
