by Lauretta Liebherr on I went to see Die Antwoord here (FOKK YEA). Inside the venue was pretty tastefully decorated and the bathrooms were nice and clean. I didn't order any drinks so I can't comment on the pricing, but I had a couple cups of free iced water- it might seem like a weird thing to mention, but I have actually been to places where they charge for water. My only other criticism is that it seemed sparsely furnished- waiting around for the show to start there was nowhere to sit (or rather, the few places available were taken), and although it did fill up there was still plenty of room for at least a dozen more tables or chairs. Aside from that I have no complaints, it was a great show and they seem to have a decent sound system. Also, I'm super jealous of the reviewer who just saw Rusko, because I didn't go.
by Manuela Cruikshank on couldn't get in bc my friends and i are asian. that's not an assumption it's an observable fact. the bouncers were only letting in blonde white chicks and stamped their bodies with a filthy up-and-down stare before letting them in- it was degrading. everyone waited in line to be stared at like zoo animals by the 2 black bouncers. it was like a tasteless rap music video gone horribly wrong. oh and many of the chicks being let in were butterfaces, no offense to the ladies. sorry but the ny club scene just isnt happenin.
by Meghan M. on I hate to break it to you, Beauty Bar, but you are not in fact cooler than me. Valiant effort though! Sorry you couldn't pull it off... PS- I have also been on a night when there was supposed to be an event that they said they decided to get drunk and close instead. Why invest in fliers all over town just to close when it is time for said event? A+ for your business model....
