Cover: $10 (actually free for women) Drinks: $30 Lounge that suddenly turns into a strip club: priceless. We stumbled in here and here are some of the first things I noticed about this place: - In an area of bars and lounges a-plenty, I was surprised this places charged cover, especially since a lot of others do not. - It's tiny, yet not cramped - The crowd is definitely... ghetto. - The decor is definitely... old. - The go-go dancer really can work the pole.. oh wait, what?? Of all my years of clubbing, I have never seen a pole dancing go go dancer! Wait, she's suspending herself on top of the pole? Wha.. She's accepting dolla dolla bills in her panties? She's taking off her shirt... Am I in a strip club?!?!?!

Amazing. Probably some of the best sushi in the city. I went last night with a couple fellow sushi aficionados in tow, and I ran into Chuan S., Peter Y., and Dio S. finishing up as I arrived. Those particular rateclubser buddies of mine know good food, and I already knew I was in for an incredible meal. We ordered the grilled whole squid appetizer, the grilled squid legs appetizer, the Combination Sunomono, the Taro appetizer, the Nami sushi dinner, and the Sashimi Combination 1. Everything was delicious, super fresh, and beautifully presented. The pieces of fish are generously sliced and practically melt in your mouth. Although I don't do rice, my brother said it's some of the best white rice he's ever had and doesn't take anything away from the tender meat draped over it. Yes, it's expensive. The three of us spent over $100, but you could make a more affordable meal here. The appetizers and hot food are very reasonably priced; my grilled squid legs were generously portioned and only $6. The Sashimi Combo was unforgettable and incredibly satisfying, but it was $28, and I just can't enjoy a meal like that often. (Unless....well.... boys? Any takers?) I also asked for sriracha, and I ended up being charged $1 for what amounted to about a tablespoon of the stuff. Unlimited green tea for $1 per person is worth it, though. MF Sushi has nothing on this place. WTMF. The only downside of Hayakawa is the wait for your food. They bring it out as its prepared, and my brother had completely devoured his Nami dinner at least 10-15 minutes before I got my sashimi meal. Does this take away from the experience? Not in the slightest. Go. Domo arigato.
