After a grueling game of "fetch" at the tennis courts. My girlfriend and I wanted to eat something light and healthy. Right when we walked into Hayakawa, all eyes were on us. It was a strange feeling. I thought we were in the wrong place until we were asked to be seated. We requested a seat at the sushi bar. The staff was very attentive and were actually Japanese. It's rare to find an authentic Japanese restaurant with an all Japanese staff. The Sushi Chef was not shy to strike friendly conversation. We ordered the shisito peppers and miso marinated tuna as our first course. Both mediocre, probably should have gone with rateclubser's suggestion of the chicken skewers. I cleansed my palate with an ice cold Kirin Ichiban in anticipation of the main course. The Sashimi Combo 1, can't really go wrong with nicely chilled tuna, salmon, squid, scallop, octopus, and red snapper. The Sushi chef was nice enough to give us "Toro" as an addition to our Sashimi. It pays to sit at the bar. The Otoro (fattiest Bluefin Tuna) with White Truffle Oil was decadent, melts in your mouth goodness! With a price tag of $30.00 it better be worth-wild and have you grinning ear to ear.

Don't expect authenticity -- your standard run of the mill Tex-Mex.. Good priced lunch specials, and non stop chips and salsa. They handle big lunch crowds really well.

I've seen a number of concerts here and it's suprisingly good considering it doubles as a teeny-bopper club. Kind of like Nat's After Dark. Good sight lines and sound. Decent drink prices. Go to the upstairs bar to beat the crowd.
