by Frances H. on Very interesting atmosphere - cool decorations and a mix of foodies and people trying to pretend to be foodies. The food was good, but service was lacking. The consensus was that too many dishes are fried, and could be better grilled. I get the feeling that they're trying to do too many different things and because of this, meals can be very hit or miss. I will say that the deserts I've tried have all been very good. It's also a good place to go for a nice dinner before going out in midtown.

I was a late bloomer when it came to the party scene, so I didn't start partying until I was 26, yeah I know quite late, huh? Ok on with the review. I have a friend that promotes here so he recommended me to come to the kress and check it out (obviously he wants people to go :P). First Impression: Not bad. Had to walk up a flight of stairs before you are greeted by the doorgirl/money collectors, then had to walk up another flight in order to get to the 3rd floor (I believe) which is where the "Asian" floor was at. The decor is not bad, it was large enough to accommodate all the people that were there (maybe a few hundred or so people)? The fun thing about this place is that there are actually multiple floors for you to party in. For the third floor, they had two rooms. One was playing house/trance music, and the other was hip hop. Mostly Asians hung out at the 3rd floor, since the promoters were Asian. The roof floor was for private parties only. The first floor was a sushi restaurant/bar. The basement is more hispanic/blacks with hip hop music being played. Pros: 1. Random celebs going to the Kress for some odd reason? I think Busta Rhymes, Rain (korean pop star) and maybe some others have gone. Honestly, I have no clue why though... 2. Nice decor 3. Sometimes there are free drinks/open bar if you go before 10:30pm. Cons: 1. Parking is expensive. I recommend parking on the street a little West of the Kress. I think it was $10 when I parked. 2. Drinks are damn expensive. They give you these tiny 6oz cups and only give you a little bit of alcohol. Each drink varied from $8 beer to $14 shots. Rip off. I say pre-party in your car, and just let that ride throughout the whole night you're there ;p. 3. A lot of stairs? Sometimes there's traffic by the stair well too.
