by Gina M. on Don't really see what the big hype is about this place... Went here for restaurant week a couple weeks ago and it was blah. Had an 8:15 reservation for a table and didn't get seated until 9:15. Granted...it was a Thursday night...but the bar waiting area was PACKED and ridiculously loud. Fine if I feel like going out drinking on a Thursday but sort of annoying if just waiting around to get seated for a table. Also was person to person packed. Drinks were ridic expensive as well. Once we FINALLY got seated the food was just okay. The pot stickers were decent but nothing to write home about. The pad thai wasn't life changing and the chocolate eggrolls for dessert were a little TOO chocolaty for my tastes.. Overall not worth the wait. OK I guess if you want to go out drinking on a Thursday but be prepared to pay. Or...if you're a tourist and really feel the need to take a picture with the huge Buddha on display in the dining room.
by Chadwick Saintignon on Located less than a mile from my house is Medjools. w00t. This review is for the club venue this past Saturday. The night started with a super long line at the door and limited parking in the mission. I got very lucky and found parking on Valencia. OT- While walking to Medjools a ping pong ball came flying off the roof of a house and almost hit my car. lol. I guess some guys were playing beer pong on a rooftop. I didn't want to be a party pooper so I picked the ball up and threw it back. They were very appreciative. k So we ended up making the guestlist. It was 10:59pm when I handed my ID over. Close call! phew.. First floor consisted of 2 bars, a couple VIP tables, ok sized dance floor for SF, and the nice bathrooms. Walk up the stairs to the second floor to find lounge areas and a open patio to people look. To the roof top. More bars (cash only). Tables and chairs to smoke the cigs. The VIEW!. Beer - $6 Shot of henny - $10 More drinks throughout the night - $50 Late night burrito from Taqueria El Farlito - $5 Breathtaking view of SF Downtown with the cool summer night breeze on the rooftop of Medjools - priceless.
by Salvador Lienhard on I can't help but hearkens back to the wise words of Obi-Wan Kenobi when thinking of 12th Scare Command - "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious." Ok, it's not that bad... But it does have it's scary dark recessed "mugger's paradises" on the 1st and 2nd floor. The bathrooms are a mess, and quite often you'll find some kind of illicit activity being perpetrated in there. And really, what's with Philly gay bars and floor to ceiling mirrors on the dance floors?! The 70s are over and Studio 54 wants it's look back... The drinks are potent, the staff friendly, and the music okay. It's best to go as a group and stick close together... Use the buddy system and don't leave anyone behind!
