The thing I love about this place is that it offers a bit of everything for everyone and does everything well. Usually you get a watered down experience of a place that tries to take on too much. Silk City has a way cool beer garden that works for happy hour, casual dinner and brunch. It also has a club vibe inside where you can dance your ass off all night. Go anytime, you're sure to go back.

Came in here the other night. I was pretty drunk already. Pounded some stellas then switched to PBR in cans because most other bars tap this shit for 2.00 a pint well I settled for cans. The door guy William and the tall bartender Tony were decent cats to chat with. I was looking around on what was playing the crappy tunes and I turned around and noticed they actually had a DJ playing some tunes. I was like "yikes, this must be a non-pro dj from the sounds of the tunes and the day of the week monday night. I'll be back soon.

The reviews here from people who dislike house music are pretty much useless. Unless you like electronica, don't go here. Period. Personally, I'm a trance/house junkie and have been here twice within the past month: once for Ferry Corsten at the Lovefest closing party, and again for Sasha's Invol2ver tour. These are the #2 and #1 DJs in my book, so the music was guaranteed to be awesome. The venue on the other hand... MAJOR SAUSAGEFEST. There were at least 20 men for every woman in attendance. It was rather bothersome to have to fend off horny, drunk men left and right. If you are female, consider dressing in your most unattractive clothing and maybe that will help. The drinks are a joke. You get maybe six ounces of a well drink (in a cup filled entirely with ice, so actually less) for $10. Fuck that shit. They also confiscate water bottles at the door, so think twice about smuggling in booze. At Sasha the only seating available was in the smoking room, which played different music than the music inside. Did I pay to hear crappy 90s R&B? Yeahno. Even smokers can't stand the suffocating smokiness long enough to linger. If you sit on the floor, the bouncers will tell you to move. I found a girl sitting on the bathroom floor and nobody told her to move -- I guess she had the right idea! When I was on the toilet I was really enjoying the coveted seat. Seriously guys, a sitting area would be nice. Ruby Skye does have its pros, though. The sound system is possibly the best I've ever heard. The bass! Oh, such beautiful throbbing bass. It's also quite the aesthetic pleasure. World-class acts come through here, so unfortunately it's hard to avoid. If you know in advance to expect a well-dressed, drunk, and aggressive/rude crowd, you may be able to mentally prepare yourself enough to enjoy the music. It says something though that it was so unpleasant that I left early during my favorite DJ's set. A venue's vibe is critical in determining how good of a time you have, and this place just does not have a good one. Maybe you should pre-party with a few shots so you'll care less about that.
