by Katie E. on I, too, came here to see Joanna Newsom last weekend, and honestly, the decor of the place is pretty much perfect for her. The acoustics were lovely, the seats were questionable and of course, the leg room was awful, and if you get stuck behind someone with a big head -- which I did -- you'll have to lean into the person next to you to see, which is okay for a show like Joanna, where most people come as part of a couple anyhow. Either way, the lounge and the bar and the restrooms are nice, too. It's a very ornate place, I liked it. The alcohol seems to have increased in price, though, at $7 for a beer or wine. Little pricey, but I like that you can take your drink to your seat. The parking around is pretty cheap, too. A few blocks down, I managed to park for $5 which is pretty much unheard of in Los Angeles on a Saturday night, so I can't complain. Honestly, I think I just liked the fact that it's in such a dumpy area, dirty and trashy everywhere, and then you walk in and you feel as though you've gone to another world and back in time. So pretty.
by Abram Eardley on Looove this place, such a special treat and I don't think you can really go wrong since EVERYTHING I've had has been wonderful. Servings are pretty hearty which is great given the prices... attentive service, and a great list of beverages. We got this bottle of sake that was heavenly. KOBE BEEF CARPACCIO -- so delicate and savory and ugh get it SOFT SHELL CRAB ROLL -- delicious & pretty big serving, affordable MORIMOTO SURF & TURF -- cooked perfectly DUCK DUCK DUCK -- big plate of an amazing variety of duckiness! CHILEAN SEA BASS -- simple, clean, PERFECT, my go-to dish that I make sure SOMEONE at the table gets every time SEAFOOD TOBAN YAKI -- a heaping serving of awesome SORBET TRIO -- we had a raspberry one that tasted like weed.. ew GREEN TEA TIRAMISU -- light and refreshing!
