Brother Sal has the dirtiest voice I've ever heard on a man. He sounds like how I'd imagine Jeff Bridges would if he were drunk on whisky and playing the piano. Even my husband was impressed as we watched him and his band bang out the best version of a Bruce Springsteen song we've ever heard. The piano bar has a cool vibe and draws in a diverse crowd without any unnecessary bullshastola. If you want cheap drinks and loud music that isn't 80's butt rock or top 40 this is the place for you. If this place served food (on a regular basis) it would be the complete 5 star package. *****Update****** Soo I went last night hoping to get my drink and good vibes on, and unfortunately the world's worst 2 man band was playing. They also mentioned that they're there every Saturday....ouch. Unfortunately though this place has a cool website, they don't tell you who is playing and when. I guess that's the danger with places that have live bands play, sometimes they are just awful. The good news is, we found out Brother Sal plays Saturday's at midnight. So that's the time to get down with the dirty.

Well, it's pretty in a French burlesque way with velvet curtains and huge, ornate mirrors but the people make the place feel like one step above ghetto. I am not saying that people need to be fit, good-looking and carry themselves with a level of self-respect and respect towards others, but it is nice. The place was full of poorly dressed, chubby women and men who looked to be approaching forty in their button down shirts and swinging Long Islands. The DJ wasn't half bad, choosing a mix of 90ies hiphop and top 40's but butchering the transitions. The lemon drop I had was horrible and I ended up ditching more than half of it. To sum up, nice looking place, not so nice looking people.

I like the Middlesex Lounge's tasty drinks - I'm used to spending my time at dive bars and rock clubs, so stopping in here after work one night was a nice change of pace. Of course, the prices were higher, but the staff were pretty friendly. I don't like the decor, however, and I find the room a little too dark for my taste.
