by Andrew K. on Honestly never heard of this spot until a day before I went there. But I'll give anything a try, especially if it's in the Mission. I'll say there's nothing extraordinary about Bruno's, which is why I didn't give it 4 stars. But my experience there was totally positive, and my group and I had a great time. We show up about 11pm on a Saturday, and there's a 15min. wait to get inside. Not too bad. Considering cover's only $5, the wait wasn't too much to ask. The decor is more up-scale than what I'd expect from a mission bar. Trendy lighting, hip drinks (the cucumber infused gin martini is killer, be sure to try it), a good mix of top 40 and hits past and present. The DJ did a good job spinning, although he definitely wasn't trying anything flashy. I guess I'd say that based on its look and drink menu, this bar might even fit in well in the Marina, if it weren't for the fact that the crowd at Bruno's is so much more inviting and less toolish. I'd say the reason to try Bruno's is the ambiance. The people there seemed friendly enough, and while the bar was crowded, it wasn't overly so. I didn't have too much trouble getting drinks, and there was some room to dance with friends. We were also able to find a few stools. To conclude...go to Bruno's it's a fine choice for a weekend night.
by Tangela Mossor on I am going to go agaisnt the crowd here and say I enjoyed Jillians at Metreon. I do agree it tries to combine a sports bar with upper class dining and I think it does it rather well. The menu is a bit on the pricy side, but I must say the Magherita Pizza I ordered was quite good, and would happily pay for it again. Service was great, and I enjoyed sitting in a place that was a bit more upscale than your average sports bar, but had all the tv's a sports fan would enjoy. I would also come back for drinks after a day of work, and though I didn't get a chance to shoot pool, I would love to go back and play a game or two. Overall I enjoyed my meal and experience, so if you are looking for a sports bar with a bit of upper scale menu and atmosphere, give this place a shot. Word.
