I came here to celebrate after the Prop 8 ruling, I figured it would be nice to try out somewhere I've never been. Walking into Trigger, I was immediately impressed with the look of the place. I absolutely loved the lighting, and it felt like there was more room inside there than most reviewers actually give the club credit for. Where my experience took a turn for the worse was the first time a drunk patron threw a glass bottle at the people in the outdoor smoking area. It shattered on the opposite end from me, and I would've considered that to be a "bad luck" experience...if not for the fact that an hour later ANOTHER bottle came hurling towards the patrons. Granted, this is not the fault of the bar but two incidents like this make me feel less likely to enjoy their outdoor patio. Then I went to the bathroom, and I was impressed with the look of it. I liked the shared male/female bathroom concept. What I DIDN'T like was the swinging doors without locks. GET SOME LOCKS ON YOUR BATHROOM DOORS! The bartenders themselves were the most inconsistent part of the night. One guy made really strong, slightly hard to drink cocktails but I knew I was getting my money's worth. A second bartender made the same exact cocktail (a vodka redbull) with way too much redbull, and I could barely taste the alcohol. I wish I got the name of the third bartender I ordered from. I asked for a White Russian, and he gave me Baileys and Vodka. What the hell kind of bartending school did he come from? That is an incredibly simple, basic drink that anyone over 21 should know how to make. Would I come back? Not on a night where they charged cover. And only if I was bored of the rest of the scene. But I won't count it out, and hopefully it improves.

Sometimes drunks call it "The Jamestic." (Well at least in my case.) When I was in my 20s (now 41) I used to love this place attitude and all. I don't know if it was because: A. I was starving and it was sometime between 3 and 6 AM. B. I usually went with a pretty good buzz C. I was usually with a bunch of friends D. I was young and unruly. E. All of the above. These days I'm no longer constantly in "party mode" so I think I'll stick to daytime visits and leave the surly/weirdness for the younger crowd to enjoy. I'm with you Three. Note: One of the strangest things that happened to me here was some guy on the sidewalk outside asking me (in all seriousness) what city he was in.
