by Jose Fuente on My best friend and I make an annual trip to SoBe Miami, some years 2 or 3. This club is a guaranteed great time. I am intoxicated by the lights, great beats, hot people and general vibe here. I love the attitude in Miami-everyone is so uninhibited and hedonistic. I have met some of the coolest people in SoBe. Very laid back and not pretentious like you hear. It's just a great place to escape to-Vegas is lame in comparison. Drinks here are at least 20 bucks, but I don't think I've ever paid for a drink here. You can also go to the front of the line, ask for a sexy European named Stefan-he might just let you slip right in. Oh-almost forgot to mention-once I saw a midget dancing on the bar here so that was really cool.
by Anthony Ahrendt on What an awful place to be stuck in on a Saturday night! Recommended by Hotel Gansevoort (I should slap that concierge the next time I see him...), me and my girlfriend found ourselves stuck between the most boring couple ever and two bold middle aged men out to get laid. The music was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak and the waitress was a mess. Both in the way she looked and in the way she acted. My girlfriend asked if the sushi menu could be ordered without tuna which Miss Ultra-Impolite answered couldn't be done. My girlfriend said she would have it anyway, as she thought the large sushi portion would be too much for her to finish, but ended up with 8 out of 12 pieces of tuna on the plate! Hello? If you knew the main ingredients in the sushi would be tuna, why didn't you tell her to order something else, Waitress-from-hell? When I went out for one of my cigarette breaks (breaks were well needed during the night) I had to argue with the door man to get back in even though he had seen me walking in and out several times during the evening and in addition I was out in the cold dressed in a strapless dress without my purse and only had a pack of cigarettes in my hand. A perfect ending to an awful night... On the positive side, I guess we would have had more fun if we were in a large group out for drinks, but the clientele was not exactly my cup of tea.
by Deborah H. on I ordered the seasonal truffle tasting menu, which I believe was about 125$ and my dinner partner had one of the omakase tasting menus for 150$. We were both somewhat underwhelmed by our food. I've heard stories that this restaurant isn't as good now that Chef Morimoto left for the NYC restaurant. The sushi and oysters were phenomenal, but my hot dishes were simply overpowered by the truffle flavor. The dessert was almost inedible. I wanted to like this place, but the lackluster food coupled with the weird, strangely placed plastic candle in the middle of the table didn't quite do it for me.
