by Jaleesa Hixon on As far as steakhouses go, this was the bees knees. Lobster Bisque had superb texture and flavor. Even the salad was good, not overdressed or soggy, fresh and crisp as it should be. I got a filet which was perfectly cooked and a side of mashed which was shared because it was pretty large. Dessert was nothing special, I ordered creme brulee which was good and what I expected. I was in a party of 10, some of which did not speak english very well, everthing was taken care of. by the staff. I was a bit underdressed, no jacket, but still felt classy and never at any point did I feel uncomfortable. The staff there made it a great experience, when I sell my firstborn I will go back.
by Shelba Villaman on Clap your hands and say "HELL YEAH!" . This was my last stop on my food tour throughout my visit in Austin since I didn't have the time to drive out to Driftwood original location. finally, a brisket sandwich i can just like, LOVE and be proud to have digesting in my tummy. sadly, the potato salad is not as good as the Driftwood, Tx location. but you know, you can't have everything at an airport. i snatched up the bbq trio boxed set so i can go "see cali friends? this is the stuff BBQ dreams are made of!"
by Steven R. on Vertigo walks the line. You can interpret that how you wish but in some ways the contradictions abound. For one, the decor is great although with the red lights and masks everywhere it looks more like Voodoo than Vertigo. It's vaguely reminiscent of a few places you might find in the Mission. Overall it works, the decor is definitely my kind of bar. The beverage selection is unfortunately very average, maybe even slightly below. There's nothing special on tap which is surprising for San Francisco considering everywhere you turn you can at least get a Boont or Bear Republic brew, and if not , at least something foreign more interesting than Guinness. Apparently the mixed drink scene here is quite lively although not being a big patron of these sorts of cocktails, I was a little assed out. The layout walks the line. On entrance it looks like a great neighborhood bar but then seems club-ish as you walk towards the other strangely placed dance room (which is too crowded for anything besides grinding, it seems). The "DJ Booth" was a bit of a joke considering the only thing playing was "Now That's What I Call Music - Fraternity Edition" (which for those of you who don't get that joke, is random mainstream club hits peppered with various buttrock anthems). This also creates a bit of a gauntlet in terms of getting to the smokers patio outside. Despite the aspects of Vertigo that don't match those of the places I usually like to drink, it is a good bar to party at with friends when uncoordinated dancing and random intoxication are the orders of the night. It can be somewhat college but I still had a great time here despite the fact that I remained mostly alone while both of my friends were busy being hit on by random girls.
