by Christine M. on One evening I was out with a few of my friends and we wanted to do Karaoke. We decided to head out to 34th to see what Karaoke spots we can find there. Ugh, we went on a mission and search to find a karaoke place that had a room for us immediately and didn't cost so much. This place was our last hope and we thought we weren't going to sing karaoke but when we went up to this place, the staff took us right away and charged us around $30 all together for 4 people. We had two microphones and a small instrument that is similar to a maraca and we had a blast. We had our own, somewhat spacious private room to ourselves to scream our hearts out. The television screen was big and the karaoke machine was easy to use. There is a variety of songs to choose from including Asian (Japanese etc.) music. The song bank could have been a little bit better but I was surprised to find one of my favorite older songs (Crush by Jennifer Paige) in the bank. I wish that the actual music video for each song would go on with the music instead of seeing clips from Asian movies. I also wish that some of the songs didn't sound edited. The instruments sounded different in some of the songs. The place is pretty clean and they even have snacks you can buy from there. I don't know the prices for the snacks though. Overall, I had a great time and I am glad that I have found this place. I would come here again for karaoke.

Beauty Bar is one of the few places that dj's are seen as an actual performance and not some lame sideshow. If your'e not into dancing, dj's, fashion trends, glitter, disco, electro, hip hop and/or techno, and arent willing to drink anything other than your average high life, please dont waste your time either going, or for that matter writing a review about a club that you will never ever imagine actually getting down at! please stay wherever you usually go to and save the regulars some shoves or cruel stares. Beauty bar rocks and will continue providing us with some real dance parties... real dj's .... real good times.
