I hardly ever actually look at my Thrillist emails, but I happened to click on it one day and lo and behold: Coda was their restaurant of the day. I was looking for a place to celebrate my recent 23rd birthday, and stopped searching as soon as I found Coda. I began email communication with Bruce Hanson, one of the owners, a few weeks before the birthday party; he was quick and helpful with all my questions, and was great to accommodate the growing number of guests (somehow it went from 12 to 27). The couches were shaped into an L for the guests, and I was able to sit in the middle while still getting up to mingle. When I wasn't trying to play hostess (even Bruce had to tell me to calm down), I was busy enjoying the drinks and amaaazing food. The scallops are fantastic, and I highly recommend the red wine risotto. I had a couple cocktails, one from their list and one that a friend ordered, which were also great. The music was something everyone commented on. The night we were there was a hiphop jazz show, where members of local hiphop groups guest-starred with the band. It was great to hear something other than a dj or cd's, and contributed to an overall classy night. I was very happy with the whole experience. All of my friends had a great time and I owe it all to the staff at Coda. Thank you. :)

this place is truly an ultra-trendy, ultra-cool place to eat...especially if you get to sit in one of those pods. the place seems like its usually packed, so i would imagine that's why the service was a bit slow. but then again, i went with a party of 10. i really can't say anything bad about this place (well the bathrooms were really dirty) but...they had great drinks, great food, and especially great dessert trays. i want to go back again!

I LOVE STEAK FRIES I LOVE DO-IT-YOURSELF BLOODY MARY BARS I LOVE NATIONAL MECHANICS! The inside of this historic bank building is like nothing else in Old City. The owners must be wild! Beautiful long bar, tons of high tables and booths, big stained glass windows, amazingly different sculptures, exposed brick and more! Plus no TVs to add noise or distract your loved ones (which happens, trust me). The menu is a delicious mix of pub fare and gourmet options. Hummus and fresh grilled veggie burger are my favs. The drinks are well poured and with a sassy smile! Plus they have just about the best variety of beer and liquor one will find in the city. This is a must visit.
