After a long afternoon browsing and shopping, my beautiful wife and I decided to have our date night dinner at the The Tavern. After traversing the crowd from the mall entrance side, we finally met a hostess, not "THE" hostess, but one of two I think. She immediately " turfed' us to the other hostess which was wrapping dinnerware in napkins. I'm thinking "WTF?" Ok. This hostess began going back thru the crowded dining area we just negotiated. She seats us along the wall in one of the many tables for two, wedged between 2 other parties that were using the area for their shopping bags and purses. Less than two minutes after she walked away, our waitress, Jessica, appeared ready to take our drink and appetizer order. Excellent. Fortunately her arrival precluded me from venting my displeasure to my wife about what just happened. While Lana and Jessica were discussing the wine list, I was reading the dinner menu. There was a lot of delicious meals to chose from the menu. When Jessica returned with our drinks, we her what she recommends. She was quick to say that she is new but recommended the ribs, a chicken dish, and spinach chips. I was considering the steaks or the ribs. Lana asked about the pad thai. We ordered the oyster shooters and bruschetta as appetizers. Returning after bringing drinks to the table next to us, Jessica took our order. I ordered the ribs for myself and the pad thai for Lana. The appetizers arrived quicker than we expected which was great. Lana LOVED the oyster shooters. She did have to ask for lemons and horseradish. Great presentation. I enjoyed the bruschetta. It was better than most Italian restaurants. The overall atmosphere of the place was very dark and loud. Louder than you would think on a Saturday evening. The crowd noise was higher than the two college football games on the TVs along the wall. The ladies just seated next to us mentioned the darkness to their server who began to tell them about the outside lighting, the dinner lighting, and any other reason she could think of that they would believe. The time between the appetizers and the main entrees was reasonable. I had a good Caesar salad that came with the ribs. We had a great discussion about the events so far and the people watching. When the food arrived, both meals looked delicious. It was a lot of food. There was two slabs of ribs with a loaded baked sweet potato and a mound of noodles for the pad thai. Having channelled my inner T-Rex, I devoured the ribs which were perfectly prepared and cooked. The meat came off the bone with ease and fully cooked. As Lana began eating her pad thai, I could tell there was something not right. The pad thai was prepared with a thick cream sauce unlike what she is used to having at one of her favorite Indian and Thai restaurants. Sad to say, she did not finish it all. Overall, mixed reviews on the meal. I was extremely pleased with my appetizers and meal but Lana's pad thai was a disappointment. A very pleasure dinner experience. Jessica took very good care of us during the entire time while balancing her other tables. If you go, ask for her. I did not notice a lot of attractive waitresses other than Jessica. They may have been in other areas of the Tavern but no one appeared to be looking for them. Maybe I couldn't see them due to the darkness in the restaurant. When I am back at Phipps shopping again, I would go back but I would not go back just for the food on a date night. I would continue to explore the dining experience in Atlanta.

Walking out the door of San Francisco's Hotel Phoenix, I hesitate for a second and then run over and jump up on the bed--I just can't bare to part with the mattress. Their king-size bed is the most comfortable place I've ever had the pleasure of resting my head--and the perfect end to a tiring day of exploring the city. It's pretty good for jumping on, too, but don't tell the management. They're probably used to such antics, though--the hotel bills itself as the hot spot for up and coming bands to crash on their way through town. Did James Mercer from The Shins spend the night on that very same mattress? Possibly, but I didn't run into anyone famous during my stay. In fact, it felt as if I had the place to myself. The boutique hotel is situated around an intimate pool-side courtyard that feels far removed from the bustle of the city. Sipping coffee and nibbling pastries from the free continental breakfast with my feet dangling in the heated pool on a sunny San Francisco morning was just about as good a start to the day as I could imagine. The hotel rooms are stylish, but feel homey and welcoming--like I'd imagine my house would be if I were only hip enough to pull it off. With rates starting at $139 a night, I can easily pretend to fit in with the rock stars and trend-setters. It's fun to imagine myself brushing by the members of The Killers on the way to my room, but in the end, I'd still go back just for the bed.

Ok so we all know people go to Asia SF or are brought by friends, to oohh and ahhh over the beautiful & gorgeous gender illusionists. But we often forget about the food and drinks, which are superb!  I love the Dungeness crab cakes, the tamarind chicken satay, and the grilled shrimp & herb salad!  Not to mention the delish martinis named after all the lovely ladies - Karmina's Kiss, Trina's Pussycat, and Leilani's SexKitten.  For dessert have an amazing banana beignet (homegurl that be a TURON don't play, hehe) and some miniature ice cream cones and you're tummy is set. Now for the eyes - what shall satisfy them?  And now we come back to the ladies...awesome choice of songs, awesome dancing, they be fiiiiine!  I ask them where they buy those fierce heels and tight dress.  Where you get them eyelashes honey?!  Everyone is so sweet, the staff is always prompt, and down to take a photo or 10 with you! If it's your birthday, get ready to take a blow job shot with no hands from a lap, with your head being pushed down and thighs wrapped around your neck!!!  I think there was a motorboat involved too if memory serves....WOO HOO!!!! HOT-ness, with a capital H!
