I haven't been out much in ATL (been here for 2 weeks). The line to get in was a little much..... The "crowd" inside didn't warrant a 30 min. wait!!!! I think they wanted us outside to think that it was really "on" inside.... I'm from New York so I know how clubs play line games. Good crowd, for the most part nicely dressed. Seemed like a "grown & sexy crowd" 25-30yrs Very nice decor & night club ambiance, cool fish tank I spied some UN-B-WEAVABLE hair styles & a few sad lace-front *FAIL* wigs Bar service *FAIL* took so long to get a drink..... They didn't have Blackhouse, WTF!!!! *FAIL* My first drink was WATERED DOWN & served in a hot glass (probably just came out the dishwasher) and my ice got melty and my drink was warm :( I also ordered a Peach Bacardi & 7up and I think the bartender forgot the 7UP!!! So I was happy with my cup of Peach Bacardi DJ was good.

I moved to Austin in 2007, but never managed to go to Dallas NightClub before it was shut down by TABC. So, when my friend Kelly S. sent me an evite to join a group to check out the recently reopened Dallas Night Club, I immediately RSVPd, YES!, because I had been hearing about all the hoopla surrounding this place from my legal secretary for over a year. Apparently, she used to pay the light bill. I have to say that I was a little underwhelmed. I am not sure if past customers don't know that it is reopened or they are leery of returning because of past TABC and APD issues, but the place really wasn't that packed. However, there was a lot of good podunk watching (think 60 year old woman in pleatherette pants and animal print shirt) and they had domestic beers for $1.69. The cheese factor, though, was amped up by a DJ that was trying to get people to stay by saying it was THE place for the George Strait afterparty. I was just waiting for him to tell all couples to skate backwards. I may wait a few months before giving this place a try again, if at all.

I think this is my second favorite southern restaurant on my list. The first one is Angelina's Lousiana Kitchen in Berkeley and the third one is Great Jones Cafe in NYC. South City Kitchen, i thought, was really good. The waiters were funny, polite, and so nice. The service was excellent. The owner (I think) would drop by every now and then to ask how everything is going. The meal began with corn bread and biscuit and whipped butter. My favorite has to be the corn bread with real kernels in them. For appetizers, we ordered chicken livers and fried green tomatoes. I hate tomatoes and i never eat them unless they're inside burger or something, but this green tomato with goat cheese and chipotle sauce was amazing. My mom would be proud of me for eating tomatoes! For entrees, we had the meatloaf with corn pudding and a side of green bean casseroll. The meatloaf was probably the best i've ever had. It was so flavorful and i loved the spices in there. We also had buttermilk fried chicken with steamed green beans and i switched the buttermilk potatoes with blue corn hush puppies. The fried chicken was nice and tender. My fave was the hush puppies. All this was A LOT of food, we had left overs! The bill came out to be $50 ish - which was really good compared to NY at a $$$ restaurant. We couldnt order dessert because the dessert section of our stomach has been occupied by the previous goodies. I really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back if I ever get a chance to come to Atlanta again. :)
