My first one-star review. It was noteworthy for many of the wrong reasons. Quickly, the good, since there wasn't much of it: Calimari was tolerable, although the tentacle parts are disgusting, and the woman's cod strips weren't terrible. The bad: My spicy guacamole burger was about as spicy as a piece of cardboard, and all the tomatoes, onions and guacamole were stacked in the middle. My burger was shaped more like a bowler hat. The terrible: Wow, this girl Emily was a wretched server. Obviously used to using her body to get tips. I was honestly considering stiffing her, and as a former server myself that thought is abhorrent. That's how bad it was. Brought our appetizer with our meal. Checked back on the food once we were more than halfway through. The best though: Acknowledged I had an empty tea glass, then came back for it five minutes later, THEN took it off the table to refill it and brought it back seven minutes later. Yes, I counted, I was that mad. Also took her four minutes to drop the bill. Never again Sherlocks. Oh, and I used their wifi to write this review while I was waiting for my check.

I specifically went to this cramped dark bar at the back of the restaurant in the St. Regis hotel lobby on a Saturday evening to celebrate the 75th birthday of the bloody mary at it's place of birth. I very much anticipated the experience and I must say I was let down. First of all, I must say that I probably should have been wearing a jacket, it IS the St. Regis (I was sporting dress shoes, nice jeans and a button up shirt tucked in). That being said, I was given the cold shoulder by the entire staff and had to wait for 10 minutes to order at the bar. The ambiance was mediocre at best. The crowd seemed to be an after-wedding set and a few wall street types. But THE biggest let down was around the bloody mary. I tried to strike up conversation with the bar tender about how cool it was that this is where the drink was invented to no avail. It was by far the worst bloody mary I have ever tasted... and I paid $22 for it. My advice, do what we did, skip the King Cole bar and do the rooftop of the Peninsula!

I don't know why I always go to aquariums and have high expectations of them. It's very similar to the one in long beach, ca but on a grander scale. It's supposedly the largest aquarium in the states - for some reason i might believe that the one in monterey, ca may be bigger. I don't mind going to aquariums, I think my only problem with them is that i don't understand why they can cost up to $30 for adults.
