Located at a bustling Hollywood intersection, XIV is more like two completely different restaurants in one. The indoor space. Like a scene from the twilight zone, everyone in the dining room looked gorgeous; meticulously dressed and under 35 years old. The uncommonly bright light and lack of any privacy at the tables didn't stop anyone from enjoying their food. The bar is located along a thin corridor and highly traffic'ed area so standing at the bar isn't a great Idea. The outdoor terrace: 3 or 4 large tv screens made this space much more casual. The bar had a more customary shape that was much more conducive to actually standing at it and ordering a drink. There were smaller tables meant for bar foods but I ordered off of the main menu--- a definite plus. The wait staff was VERY attentive but not annoying ---- another plus. The food was another huge plus. There was a (rather expensive) valet lot.

This is a great hotel: clean, elegant, great location and friendly staff. I stayed there during a biz trip to Philly. My room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The wood floors and amenities made it feel homey and upscale. What made it memorable was how accommodating they were. I asked if they could print a preso for me and they said no problem, no charge. Then, I asked if they had any snacks and they offered me an apple and banana, no charge. No nickel and dime-ing. The only con is that they don't offer room service, but they do offer free wine and cheese in the evening and continental-style breakfast in the morning. I'd definitely go back!

I found Micky's to be overly crowded, loud, and lacking much of an ambiance. The patrons were colorful, the crowd a bit older, but the blaring music, which was not very good, coupled with the expensive drinks, was the kiss of death for me. Okay, the go-go dancers are nice, but I need more. The outside was overly crowded too. I don't know, I think there are better places out there.
