by Michael W. on Went there for my sisters birthday. Had not been in years so was excited to go back. They had a great wine and drink selection. Very cool ambiance. Had the mussels and little neck clams for an appetizer. Mussel's were very fishy tasting. The broth was very good. Nice touch with adding chorizo to the broth. For an entree had veal and ricotta meatballs that were very good. Had the bing cherry dessert that was just okay. Was more excited about the ice cream served with it. Had very nice spices. Wife's dessert the chocolate cake was not that good. Very dry, and not a lot of depth to it. My sisters dessert the Meyer Lemon Curd was spot on. Great texture and flavor. If you sit in the bar the service is very very slow. Had to get up on numerous occasions to get water, pay the bill etc. Crowd was very young and somewhat fake as there were a lot of wannabes. A good place to go a couple of times a year, but not somewhere you would go on a consistent basis.
by Sanna B. on I finally made it to Flip w/ the b.f. & my dear friend Joanna who had a 5 hour layover on her way to Costa Rica. She's a huge Top Chef fan & Flip was THE only thing she wanted to do. Fine by me! We got there around 3 o'clock on Saturday and there was still a wait! Luckily, we were seated in less than five or so minutes and got down to business. I ordered Po Boyger w/ a side of sweet potato tater-tots. LOVED my burger. It was just right across the board. Will definitely get again. HATED the tatar tots. They didn't have a whole lot of taste other than grease and seemed more like fried mashed sweet potato blobs than what I think tots should be. Jo had the U.S. Kobe burger with asparagus tempura and the nutella & burnt marshmallow shake. I didn't try her burger, but LOVED the asparagus and the shake was quite tasty too. The b.f. had the rBq which was pulled brisket with coleslaw and "rBq" sauce. He also got the vodka battered onion rings and the Krispy Kreme shake. Again, I didn't try his burger, but the onion rings were the bomb and the shake was good. I liked the nutella better. The decor is awesome - love the bar area w/ the cool frames around the flat screen tvs. Like Victor said the servers could be a bit brusque, but I think that's b/c they were busy. Our waiter seemed in a hurry to get us out of there (he kept hovering checking if we had paid), but we wanted to take our time as it was really our only stop before going back to the airport. The crowd seemed to die down around four o'clock, so if you want to check Flip out w/out waiting, I would suggest that time. I'll definitely be back! Go Blais!
