Some people like East Andrews. They enjoy the blandly good-looking people, talking of bygone days of Woodsers and mixers and other college activities done while I was probably off huffing paint with the college townies. As I said, some people, some FRIENDS, like East Andrews. I, however, do not. I can only spend limited amounts of time with the bedecked, bejeweled and bedazzled, hair coiffed with enough product to stop a bird midflight, and their legs shaved porcelain smooth. And those are just the guys. The women are mostly newly minted college grads, fresh of face and naive enough to actually believe you're a bassist in an up-and-coming band when you're not busy trading stocks. "Really? You've never heard of 'Free-11?' Yeah, we're a 311 cover band, but we also do our own stuff. You should check us out the next time we play in town." Lack of any actual musical ability notwithstanding, of course. Go ahead and tell them you play at The Earl. They'll never come see you; the drive (most likely) from Smynings and points further north too harrowing. Besides, the women are really busy checking out each other. "Omigod, nice perm burn and spray tan. And I can't believe she has the nerve to show her face after.....HI, JENNA! It's been AGES! How arrrrrre you?" (kiss, kiss) Oh, but make sure Jenna doesn't see the sales tag you've tucked into that D&G dress you've got on but intend to return first thing tomorrow. Parking is a mess with a very small lot, while the spill over quickly fills the street parking with an impressive array of Volkswagen Jettas of every hue. You can get there early to avoid parking headaches, but then you'll be a tool for showing early. Get there late and the extended walk from wherever you park will force a blister from those 6 inch Aldos you were foolish enough to wear. Ah, the club goer's dilemma. Early to park, late for image. Then again, you can always cab it. Anyway, two stars for what East Andrews is and really, it is what it is. I do have some friends that enjoy the place. They've dragged me here on occasion and thus this review. If you know what to expect, follow the zen path and just let it be. Vodka also helps.
