by Kiera Boatwright on came to pod while visiting philly, mostly because it was right next door to our hotel. this place looks like a space-ship, so that's a plus. food was excellent, although a bit overpriced. really enjoyed the potsickers w/ mustard aioli, as well as the spicy tuna rolls topped with rock shrimp. the real reason to come here is really for the ambience - worth a visit at least once.
by Bernice Bruson on If you want some simple advice: SKIP THIS PLACE. There are other places better than Roe around that area for both music and people to party with. ie. Supper Club, 111 Minna, and Temple, all for less the price, more space and have a more diverse crowd. Below is what I experienced at ROE that left a TERRIBLE IMPRESSION. Here is my story and my reasoning for you to SKIP ROE NIGHTCLUB. Date: October 3, 2009 (after the Love Parade) So, a few friends and I went to ROE after The Love Parade on Oct. 3, 2009, past 1130pm. The security was very cool. The staff however, was not...so check this out! So...FIRST, after paying $25 bucks for entrance & dropping money on a few drinks that cost $12 EACH (Vodka/RedBull) for me and some friends... ...at the end of the night, I went back to the bar shortly after they announce last call.... I went up to a bartender and asked if I could have some water for my friend. (just a cup of water, to help him sober up, and to help him wash out the alcohol in his system) Now, a cup of water is a normal request for EVERY LOUNGE, CLUB, BAR that I've frequented in the city. So, I go up to to her [the bartender] and ask, "Hi, can I have a cup of water." The bartender replies, "I can sell you a bottle for $5." Puzzled, I say, "No, I just want a cup of water on tap." She replies back again, "I can sell you a bottle for $5." So I politely decline to pay $5. I declined since I already dropped a lot of money for entrance and earlier drinks, and felt they were unreasonable. My friend after hearing this, decided to get the water himself. So he proceeded to ask the bartender for a cup of water. Guess what...The bartender answered him the exact same way. "$5" My friend, then continued to ask for just a cup of water, to help relieve his dehydration and to help him sober up as well. And The bartender replied, "I Can't. I can sell it to you though." Frustrated, and infuriated, he demanded that he speak to the manager, and that she [the bartender] give him [my friend] their names, so he can report them or possibly file a lawsuit. His reasoning was on behalf of public safety [for when he leaves their club] he needs the water to sober up and re-hydrate himself. In addition, since he was a paid patron of their establishment, who paid an entrance fee, and paid a lot of money for drinks, that the least they could do, was to him some water, so he may sober up. Then, abruptly, she then stepped away for a moment, and went up to a man at the end of the bar. He then motioned for her to give my friend some WATER. The man was the manager, we assumed. Before returning back to my friend, we witnessed her giving some other people some water in a cup. Then she also poured a cup of water, and walked back to my friend's direction, placed the water in front of him without saying a word, and her back to him before walking away. _______________________ THIS IS WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ROE. THEY'LL TAKE YOUR MONEY FOR ENTRANCE AND DRINKS. THEN THEY CAN'T EVEN KINDLY GIVE YOU A COMPLIMENTARY CUP OF WATER, and want to Charge you MORE MONEY! BE WARNED IF YOU VENTURE INTO ROE.
by Dana P. on Great atmosphere. Came here with some coworkers for drinks after a spa day. Loved the premium margaritas in the hollowed out pineapples. A bit pricey at $25 Eeeek! That's what we get for upgrading to Patron I suppose. Can't comment on the food as I just had drinks and guacamole. Service was TERRIBLE which warrants a two star deduction. Will be back, but it's not a priority.
