Meh. This place is l.a.m.e. Went for a Halloween party at 210 and found it rather interesting (disgusting?) that two really cute girls in our party were left standing outside. The two ladies in question were African American and Puerto Rican, respectively. I've heard rumors of this place's virulently racist door policy. Well, the rumors are true. Oh, and they also like to "hold the door" to trump up parking charges in the self park lot: if they force people to stand around for a long time, and they charge for parking by the hour.....well, you do the math. Not a very subtle technique, but there you have it.

Can I get one of everything, please? No, I'm serious. One. of. everything. It took me a *really* long time to figure out what I wanted to nosh on, but luckily I had coworkers who just started sputtering out small plates to start with. Pretty soon our table was filled with the famous fried goat cheese balls along with some grilled squid and piquillo peppers with short rib. It was all delicious and since everyone and their mother knows to order the fried goat cheese, I'm gonna tell you to get those piquillo peppers. Super tender short rib stuffed inside grilled peppery goodness: heaven. Sadly it was one of the smaller appetizers, but still, I'd order it in a heartbeat. While the pizzas were tempting and the fish entrees were calling to me, I decided on the chili-braised pork with papardelle. I *never* order pasta at restaurants but I really should start: it is so far and away better than anything I could ever imagine creating at home. The papardelle was perfectly al dente, and I loved the wide noodles wrapped around the marinated pork. Despite being pretty full, I had no problem cleaning my plate. We also ordered up a few sides: the fennel, squash, and beets. The fennel was my favorite: it had a perfect char and bursted with flavor. The beets were good but not the best beets I've ever had and I'm sadly not a big squash fan. With a bustling bar scene and such great small plates, I foresee Ecco's bar becoming one of my go-tos, no doubt.

Sound system: excellent. Loud but not ear drum damaging. Space: small + intimate with properly spaced, ample seating. Ventilation was rubbish though. I had to take about 4 breaks outside in order not to hyperventilate and pass out. Music: well, that just depends on the DJ that night.. and unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of tech house. I still did get my dance on though. Crowd: I made 2 new friends from randomly dancing and chatting with people. So top crowd that night. The sound guy sat in a truck outside the club controlling levels, and he had a leather whip - that made for an interesting experience. Boo: No smoking patio.. so you have to sit around the parking lot if you want a breather. Overall: I love this spot. Good for an unpretentious, chill, club night out in nasty ole Hollywood.
