I was going to try and keep this as short as possible...but its impossible cuz there is so much to say here....I was invited to join a friend for her bday celebration.... friday (10/29) when she emailed me the invite said: "my house in hollywood"...I thought...okay, what's the full address??? SOOOOO.....yeah. The name of the club is "My House" and its located in Hollywood. OKAY, I get it...its been a while since I've been out in Hollywood and.....now I remember why.... First of all...it aint myhouse...cuz my house is dope and I'm a great freakn hostess. Secondly, its the freakn Garden of Eden, always was, always will be. I USED to go there when I was barely of age to drink, and when it was actually hott and there were actual beautiful ppl going and they actually had REAL DJ's.......not these wanna b dj's who play radio hits all night long...IF I WANTED TO HEAR THE SAME SONGS THAT ARE PLAYED ON THE RADIO, I WOULD LISTEN TO THE RADIO... pay no attn to the front'n promoters raving about all the beautiful ppl who go here, or the special events...I've seen better performances on 3rd street prom....these events don't exist, neither do the "free drinks".... Rename a place and all of a sudden its too good for anyone to go and have fun. News flash club owners/promoters: if you want a good crowd and want them to come back, make it a good time!! Ppl want to go out and have a good time after a long work week....WHY would you want to go to this place after a long work week just to do more work by spending an hour trying to get inside !!!?? EVERYTHING that everyone else says about this place is dead on. DONT bother researching online, going to the website, emailing the PR reps....cuz they all lie and its a scam to get you to buy a table. I can't tell you how many EMPTY tables there were tonight. it was pathetic... The place has always been beautiful, Idk why they keep hiring whack promoters to mess up the vibe! OH! and you want my guy friends to pay WHAT just b/c they are guys?? I know you saw my dress, b/c ur drooling...I dont mind paying a cover. I really don't. But tell me how much b4 I get there.....I even told the promoters how many we were going to be (6 girls and 3 guys)...Told them I didnt want to wait in a hollywood show line...cuz hello, its friday nite and we want to Party!! fyi: There really is a bouncer yelling @ ppl to get on the grass....fake a$SS grass they want us to cluster in so they can evaluate us like cattle! ....There is ZERO organization...NO one knows what they are doing.... We ended up becoming one huge group in efforts to get in faster....and it worked...all the while, the promoter was texting me saying he was coming out and not to move...each "bouncer" told us something different outside, but we were: "getting in"......"folks, you gotta move to the right"..."folks, you can't be here". "move to the left", "I need you in one line".."guys, move in closer, back up"..wth? its a circus. Do I really want to taste the girl's hairspray in front of me? My fiance ended leaving us all within 5 minutes of this madness and I won't even punish him for it cuz he had the balls to know better. okay. so the entire time outside is aweful. and its cold btw. Inside ain't any better.....One bouncer had the nerve to tell me after I was in..."I am so glad you got in....I've been watching you"... really? why didnt you go and get me then??? There was NO eye candy to write home about, (hey, I'm engaged, not dead) I brought all the eye candy with me apparently. The bouncers should have paid ME. There is only ONE bathroom in the entire joint!!!....with all the renavations done, you couldnt add another bathroom!?? With all the money you just collected at the door alone, you can't spring for better service? The line for a toilet is mad long, dirty, drunk girls are stumbling out and it wasnt even midnite (dirty girls and dirty bathroom, just to be clear) , toilet paper if you can salvage it, is off the floor and these girls who u can tell are regulars, don't use t.p. , they just pee on the floor. This place serves whack watered down drinks and has the nerve to charge you for them. NO top shelf liquor available at all. The place could be so nice (as it used to be) yet, they just put kmart hubcaps on a mercedes. WHACK WHACK WHACK. ...If rateclubs had a negative rating..this place deserves it. OH! to make matters worse, I just heard that my friend (female) was punched in the face on her way out ..where are we? On Jersey Shore?? Who does that? (no, she does not look like Snookie) Dont go here! And if you do, bring protection....and I dont mean std protection either..Crowd is ghetto. I was pushed and shoved and grabbed all nite, had to stay upstairs the remainder of the nite in order to avoid anyone else "accidently" rubbing up against my beautiful silk dress for a cheap thrill..The crowd is too rough. YUCKO to this place. Nuca Mas!!
by Julie A. on I ate at Mr Bones in one of his previous incarnations and had a very good experience. Not so anymore. I ordered the 2 meat combo - with brisket, sausage, collard greens, black eyed peas and cornbread - for $9. The brisket was so dry and tough I had to saw through it with some effort. The casing on the sausage was so chewy and tough I couldn't saw through it with the knife provided and just gave up. I left a lot of meat on my plate. The black eyed peas were mediocre. The cornbread and collard greens were good. Hopefully this is just growing pains and the food will improve. I'm likely to end up eating there again with other folks since I work across the street, but will certainly not seek the place out myself at this point.
by Billie Schwager on Three stars for the amazing venue and the good but overpriced food and drinks. The Edison loses points for being overpriced, for employing over zealous busboys who will clear your table regardless of if you have finished your food/ drinks or not, and for having a really wanky and pretentious 'floor show' that totally ruins the 1920's vibe. This could have been a 10 star place, but I just left feeling that it is not fulfilling its potential
