Flip wins the prize for best restaurant music. I mean honestly, it sounded like I had just plugged my own iPod in. And yeah, my music selection *is* that good. I was seated at the "chef's bar" and conveniently enough, that meant sitting right next to Richard Blaise, his wife, and his super precious baby. I'm a total nerd when it comes to celebrities, even if they aren't celebrities. If you get interviewed on the local news for a comment about how bad traffic was that day, I'll probably want your autograph. So yeah, I freaked out and didn't say anything to him. Typical. Anyway, my server was super sweet and quick and let me sit for a while at the bar. I'm kind of regretting not getting a milkshake, but there's always next time! I had the butcher cut burger, which was absolutely smothered with bleu cheese and onions. It was all very tasty, but really messy and I feel like the toppings overwhelmed the meat. The bun was nice and thick and the burger was the perfect size. All in all, I really enjoyed my meal at Flip. $14 is a bit pricey for it to become part of my regular lunch circuit, but I think things could be a good bit cheaper if you brought a friend to split a side.

I'm familiar with the nickname for this would be piano bar (if the place had a piano for starters)--Monsters.  I was never quite sure if the unofficial name referred to the decor or to the clientele or to both. I hadn't been to Sisters in two years when I found myself in Philly for a wedding.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that cover on karaoke Thursdays had only gone up 1 dollar to 10 bucks, but disappointed to see that the house no longer gives you 9 drink tickets and 2 hours to play chicken with your liver.  Instead, they give you a very reasonable 4 drink tickets. The buffet food was plentiful so I was able to go back to the trough a few times to soak up the Yeungling draft. The bar staff was as unfriendly as ever.  The upstairs with the pitch black dance floor and lousy music was-as just as per my memory-empty and sad.

5 stars for the music part of the establishment 1 for the restaurant. I've never had a waiter that was so uninterested in his job.  He wasn't even rude, just bad.  Definitely should find a new career. In the downstairs, where the music is, the general manager, Mel, made the night for me.  Friendly and caring, he made sure I was taken care of. The music was great, good sound for a small, dark, basement. I'd definitely go again for the music. As a side note - the tomato bisque was the best thing on the menu.  It was so good it was almost worth the unacceptable service from the waiter.  (this part refers to the restaurant upstairs)
