Asian Mecca - went last night for the first time and it was a line around the block and there were literally 4 non-asian people there, which is fine just surprising. The music was good and the space is huge. They pat your down and scan you like the airport to get in, if I had waited in line and had to be patted down it would have been a worse night. But we walked in so it was ok. fun place for a dance party.

I'm more of an old school, classic kind of girl and that is the way I prefer my bars. I'll be honest and say that I learned of this bar from the "Devil Wears Prada" movie. I was impressed with the backdrop in the movie, but now that I think of it, that might not really be the bar. Nevertheless, the restored Maxfield Parrish is a splendid backdrop for the bar, but I I personally like the one at the Palace Hotel better. They have my Ricard, which is a bonus, but it's like $17 a drink, which is almost triple what I would pay at Scala's, but they give you a double pour, well so does the bartender at Scalas. The crowd is pretty mixed. Lots of glam women sporting fur coats that I would die for, a few sugar daddy potentials, and a few kinky perverts recruiting for menage a trois (fast talkers sporting Guido 80s era black leather blazers). This establishment is worthy of a splurge and addition to my "must do list in New York!"

I just had my birthday party here on Saturday and it was a really great time! The key was getting a table and having my friends get there early. Danielle was very helpful in setting up the table and Cassandra was an absolute super star in making sure we got in ok and that my friends didn't have to wait in line. Big props to both of them. Cover wasn't under their control b/c it was being promoted from someone outside the restaurant. For his part, the DJ was solid and plenty of dancing went on that night. Good looking crowd and the option to hang out after hours in the downstairs area. Thank you Roe for a great bday night!
