Great ambiance, live crowd, but calm enough to have a good conversation with your group! Had to wait in the bar/lounge a bit but worth it.

This place is OK. I only go here because my friends go.... but everytime we do go, I can't help but ask why. The drinks are a lil pricier than other places. My usual Grey Goose Tonics go for 10 bucks. Mixed drinks in tall glasses such as Long Islands go for 15 bucks. I went on an 80s night. It wasn't all 80s music, but they did have an amazing band that I actually liked (The Fast Times Band). They provided the extra star for my judgement of this place.

Buckhead nightlife is undergoing a slow demise. Not cool. Luckily, Midtown is taking the reigns, offering a bunch of lounge/bar/club spots. Door 44 is the newest addition. It's located on the same block of land as Cosmo/Lava, Front Page News and Leopard Lounge, so bar-hopping by foot is doable...then again, I don't wear stilettos. Another plus is that it's usually possible to find free street parking, especially on weeknights. I've been to Door 44 twice. Let's start with the first, worse, experience: We went to the Metromix launch party on a Thursday night. I figured it'd be bouncing pretty hard given that there was a special event, and Thursday nights are always pretty big, right? Wrong. It was quite empty. That's the only complaint, but it's a very important aspect of a night out. We left fairly immediately for greener pastures. The second experience: We tried again last night, on a Wednesday. Holy crap was it crowded. All of the VIP areas were filled, the dance floor actually had some people hopping around, even the outdoor patio (nice, but small) was full. The theme every Wednesday is "Wicked Wednesdays," so I think some of the guys wanted to try to appear a little edgier than they actually are. Thus the plethora of fauxhawks. You take a basic boy haircut and some gel, push everything to the middle of the head, and voila: the fauxhawk. Slow head shake. You're not foolin' anybody! Prices are standard Midtown variety....$4 for a domestic beer. Pretty good mix of ages and ethnicities, but mostly 20-something Caucasian. Moral of the story: if it's a Wednesday and you don't like MJQ, have a good time at Door 44.
