Unfortunately there was no 4.5 stars choice. The rumors are true. this place is damn expensice to get into for a small club. Aside from that, it was awesome for me. Heres my story: It's Halloween night, and it's 2am. I have lost my friends and my phone is dead, but who the hell is goiing home at 2am on Halloween. NOT I. I was in the meat packing district, which usually isn't my scene, so being the adventurous type, I shoot into a couple of places, and get one drink in each. Then i walk down the road and decide to walk until I hear some loud thumping bass. I could hear the DJ from across the street that night. Cover was 25 bucks, but it was Halloween, so I said, ah screw it. Went in and long story short, I made some new friends, the sound and the tunes were AMAZING and even though the entry fee was that of some of the much larger clubs, the drinks were relatively cheap compared to Pacha or Webster Hall. I like meeting new people so if you don't mind hanging out with good looking European ladies, don't bother. I do wish they had a larger dance floor, but thats just the way it is. I had a blast until last call.

I'm not easily lured out to clubs and bars, mostly because I stick out like a sore thumb amongst all the drunken hipsters and find myself generally hating the music or having a hard time functioning with the ringing in my ears from an overly loud, poor quality stereo.... But I found myself happily surprised this past Saturday night when I joined some chums to celebrate a friend's birthday at the Triple Crown! Housed in the old Octavia Lounge space, I found myself instantly enjoying the music, a mix of '80's and dance-friendly electro lounge (pardon me if I've got the names of genres all screwy, as I mentioned before, I'm not a club-scene maven). The club itself was spacious, located in a great neighborhood, where I don't feel unsafe walking to my car, and the patrons seemed to be a delightful mix of gay and straight, hipster and non-hipster, younger and older. Everyone seemed friendly, definitely not snobby or trying hard to impress anyone, and at moments I found myself feeling like I was dancing at someone's house party, it was so relaxed! The only downside? Now listen up, owners of the Triple Crown: Someone's got to do something about the bathroom situation! The lines are long and the wait is ridiculous. I'm not sure what can be done about it, but something would be nice! Other than that, I can see myself being happily dragged back here anytime...anyone want to go dancing?!
