by Katie H. on Where the hell am I? That was the first thought in my mind when my friend and I met my boyfriend here one night after dinner. It did not look like my scene. Tiny and crowded and peanut shells on the floor...hmmm. So I had a couple drinks and relaxed and decided to give it a chance. Thank god I did. What a great night! Back Fence is not trying to be something it's not. It's a dive bar with a floor covered in peanut shells. And that's the charm of it. The live music is what makes this place great. Every band I've seen has been great. Honestly, everyone is happy here. A couple things: Get a table. They only let you stand around the bar and it gets very crowded. If you're at a table, make sure you're sitting or they yell at you. So I've been back a couple times since. It's a place I have to be in the mood for. But when I am in the mood...it's some of the best nights I've had.
by Roseline Deglow on first of all, they DON'T charge you for internet -- they have free wireless in the lobby, at the pool, and on the mezzanine level, not to mention a free laptop/printer to use in the lobby. this place is the bomb. i'm staying here right now and it's a great experience. our room has a giant photo of mick jagger and great fresh hair products. the staff is really nice, but a star is off for the 'tude up in here (but then again, who doesn't have an attitude at modernist hotels like this -- not to mention the standard LA attitude?)
