by Courtney H. on I came here for NYE 2011. The plan was to eat and then go downstairs to the club. The sushi was great, probably the best ive ever had! When we went into the basement (club) it was dead...we were the first people there (it was about 10:00) So we decided to go somewhere else and then come back. When we came back there were more people..but not many, maybe about 25 at the most. Still had a good time..friendly bartenders, good drinks, decent prices.
by Toastface Grillah X. on At 3:30 am on a Fri. night, after getting turned away at Pravda and Puck Fair, Back Fence extended a warm welcome to me and my friends for a final nightcap. For that gesture alone, Back Fence earned my respect. It's a friendly dive with a sawdust and peanuts shell covered floor and the band that was playing that night consisted of a couple of guys just playing whatever folksy-bluesy songs they felt like playing. Cool to kick it for a beer or two if you get tired of the "scene" at some of the nearby Bleecker bars.
