by Dale Glogowski on Delux has been a great spot for years and many burger joints have tried to copy this concept and they are good but there is one delux. The french fry's on a cart of pretty bananas and the sweet potato style cart is just as great if not better. I give these guys major kudos for their selection of menu items and they have great options for beer drinkers as well. The price is reasonable for their experience.
by Earl Kieft on All things in life are relative and Medjool is no exception. Medjool is like picking up an ugly girl during a dry spell. You know you can do better, but options are limited and frankly you don't care. Hell, she has a pretty face right ? Medjool would greatly fail on its own when put in a hood with real competition. But, in a talent wasteland like the mission, it is a shining gem. This bar has a lot of great things going for it, and with a few tweaks could possibly run with the big dogs. Sadly, it seems they are resting on their location. On the plus, it has a gorgeous rooftop with a specular view of the city. It is truly stunning. The djs I have seen here have been decent, but their names not worth remembering. The overall decor is upscale and the space has a great feel. On the downside, the staff is not very pleasant. That goes double for the bouncer that tried to pick up my date. My biggest gripe, is that a budlight and a blue moon are both six dollars. WTF ? This place will also gladly suck the money out of your wallet with a ten dollar cover, and weak ass rail drink at seven bucks a pop. But, you are in the mission so what are you going to do ? Haiku ! The mission ? Really ? Hipster girl with hipster friends Thank god she is hot. Talent Level ? I was surprised, but I expected the worse. There are actually cute girls in the mission. Who knew ?
by Chelsea V. on This place is totally different everytime I go, meaning there is a different theme. The passed two times was on a weekend night and WOW what an interesting crowd. Boys with make up and all dressed up with glitter and crazy outfits. So silly. There were also go go dancers and some pretty good dance music goin' on. This last Wednesday I went to watch my friends band play and it was completely empty. The drinks were also served in plastic cups sizable to a water coolers and they were $7 bucks for well! I thought this was out of control expensive for what you get. I will probably never go here on a weekday again, but the crowd on the weekend is totally interesting and fun. Sometimes they even open the second room that is off to the left when you walk in. Oh ya and there is a semi large smoking area outside that can get super crowded. There aren't a lot of places to sit either. Parking is kind of screwy so arrive early or take a cab!
