Damn! Love this place! Caught Aimee Mann here a couple weeks ago, and I was really pleased. Yoshi's is big enough to feel significant, and small enough to feel intimate and have great acoustics. The PA had very *slightly* muddy bass, but I could still hear delicate vocals quite clearly over the instruments. Even coming in near the end of the line with general admission tickets, I was able to get a seat with a great view. The food & cocktail service is quite good, the beer list is halfway decent, and they have surprisingly good sushi. What's more, they don't gouge you on the food & drink prices. The neighborhood is fun & mature, and the Boom Boom Room is just up the block as well. When I'm in California, I will always keep an eye on Yoshi's calendar for my favorite acts. This is a great place to catch a show.

My boyfriend and I had gotten take out here before which was all very good. We decided to stop there for dinner one night before seeing a movie (which neverwent to, due to the HUGE scorpion bowl) The atmosphere was great, we sat in the dining area near the bar. There was a work party going on and everyone was dancing and having a great time. The plates are huge and the food is yummy. The scorpion bowls are are good for two or three, but beware of their long island ice teas, they are deadly! the music could have been a bit quieter but there is a dining area not near the bar that looked very peaceful.

Wow, growing up in the bay area was awesome for some many reasons, but an excellent music scene is not to be overlooked. SF has so many venues, and there is a good show every night somewhere in the city. The great American music hall is a good one. They host a lot of punk shows. I've seen the Vandals here, Dropkick Muyphys, Good Riddance, Anti-Flag.... The club is on the small side, basically a bar, and the stage is right there. Pretty easy to walk to from BART, but remember the last train is around midnight...and the neighborhood is pretty dirty, lots of transients and drug users, kinda in the tenderloin. Still if there is a show you want to see here, go for it!
