by Caron B. on I know Sugar turns into a club at night, but I've only ever been there during the cafe hours., so that is what I am reviewing. The several times I have been there, it was always decent coffee or a bagel if they haven't run out (but I ususally go late in the morning so I understand they they run out after the morning rush). However, the last time I went in there i was so frustrated! It seemed like they were filming something, but sure what exactly, but there were a few guys with cameras directing a couple other people. I wasn't sure if I could go up to the counter or if I was going to be in the way... it was confusing. i kept trying to catch the eye of the girl behind the counter to see if she'd wave me up but she was distracted by people as well. I kept inching closer to the counter untill I was standing right in front of the girl. Screw the cameras at this point, I was running late and wasting time, if they wanted me out of the way I'm sure they would have said something. So after several awkward seconds where I am literally starring at the girl, waiting to be asked "what can I get for you" and wondering if I am possibly invisible, another person walks up to the counter. The girl immediately looks at her and is like "What can I get you?". I think my sigh/jaw dropping open/ hand maybe slapping the counter stole her attention. Me: "Excuse me, i've been waiting to be helped." Counter girl: "Oh, what do you want?" Me: " Do you have any bagels." Counter girl: "No. Do you want anything else?" Me: "Nope. Thanks." Fine out of bagels, I get that, but come on! It should not take several minutes to get the the point where I can even ask. Well, Marty's market next door got my business instead, even if it was only $1 for a granola bar. Ugh, what a waste of time.

I'm going to have to agree with my homie, Betty N. when she says "There were no hot bitches in sight. I had to look in the mirror for that." fasho. All types of people on this particular Friday night, and I'm not talking about "hot", "cute", "sexy", I mean people like MTV's The Situation only pint sized. I mean super douchey-suspect characters who just stand there and creep you out. I mean people who can't speaka Engrish (ladies and guys). I mean ladies who can't hold their liquor and drunkingly "dance" on the podium. Yea woman, I totally saw your undies and no, no one pulled them down for you because your drunk friend was a hot mess too. And EVERY guy was there, front row, staring. Nasty. 2. Bouncers were cool except they will seriously lay the smack down if you attempt to cut in line. Serious. Saw it with my own 2 eyes. 3. Club itself was okay. I mean, I can overlook the cheesy decor but this place was super small. The "main" room with the gogo dancers was pointless, nobody was dancing there. The main bar was where everyone was pushing and shoving. And the dance floor itself was super small and cramped! And finally, the worst part of Infusion Lounge on this particular night was: 4. THE DJ. OH. MY. GAD. I had to look up who djed this night so I can avoid this guy forever. DJ VICE: PLEASE QUIT AND SPARE US YOUR CRAPPY PLAYLISTS. Just like the DJ in Hawaii, this fool cannot keep a good tune going. He switched songs every 5-10 seconds, not only songs, but different genres!! He played slow jams, trance, hip hop, house and r&b - each maybe for about 10 seconds. And no, he could not mix them well either. And if the music isn't good, then no one is dancing. And if no one is dancing then people are literally just standing around!! Man. DJ VICE, you suck big time. I friggn hate you. So would I recommend Infusion? Ironically, yes. If the crowd was different and if the DJ was definitely different. Everything else will come together, but damn, this night just sucked BHBs. Big Hairy Balls.
