This place is NOT a lounge or a club. It's a bar trying to pass off as lounge / club so they can charge cover and have tables. First, a bunch of us rsvped online so we wouldn't have to pay the $10 cover. Great except that the bouncer's list didn't have a lot of people's name. I don't know if it's their organization skills are poor or if they were trying to people to pay cover. Second, there is no dance floor and the second floor is reserved for tables only...that's okay the people up there looked pretty bored. Third, the music was okay. They had at least 2 djs - a girl (yay) and a guy. Finally, the place got really crowded and had a complete bar vibe. HOWEVER, if you looking for a bar, you should probably check it out. Also, they have a big smoking section in the back.

Michelle was nice enough to treat me out two nights ago and we decided to make a mini road trip to S.F. to dine at two restaurants she's been dying to try. Our first stop, Mayes Oyster House ( http://static1.px.rateclubs...) did not disappointment. You got to love their happy hour! $1 oysters and two Kamikaze Oyster Shooters for $5, nom nom nom! This place is really charming with a very nice appeal and sort of old school feel to it. Very cozy, elegant, yet not to fancy where you feel out of place. It has a very welcoming feel with a fireplace to the side, a nice large bar, and a dark wood décor. Also, they make their drinks mighty strong here, just how I like 'em. :) Since we were planning to dine at two places, we elected to order very little so we still had room for our next destination. Between the two places, I really loved Mayes way more and wished we ordered more dishes here, but that will have to be another trip! That night we ordered: - 1/2 Dozen Fresh Oysters ( http://static1.px.rateclubs...) -Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Poke ( http://static1.px.rateclubs...) -Kamikaze Oyster Shooter ( http://static1.px.rateclubs...) -1867 German Pear -Blueberry Cosmo -The Russian Hill **Food** 1/2 Dozen Fresh Raw Oysters (4.0 stars): These happy hour deal breakers at $1 a piece were delicious. They come with three different sauces, and my favorite is the classic cocktail sauce. They were extremely fresh and tasty; however they were a bit on the small side. But for $1 each, I can't complain! :) Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Poke (4.0 stars): A blend of sesame, chili, white truffle oils, pickled vegetables salad, and wonton crisps. The flavors combined together worked quite well with each other. The tuna was very flavorful with a nice kick. Michelle didn't care much for the wonton crisps, but I liked them. Adding the tuna poke on top of the crisps was a winning combo in my books. Kamikaze Oyster Shooter (3.50 stars): Sake & Japanese mirin with tobiko and spicy pickled Japanese carrot. Oysters and alcohol, how can you go wrong? These were Oysters with a nice punch. I found them tasty, and they reminded me of one of my all time favorites, hamichi shots at Alexander's. However, these were not quite as delish compared to the hamichi shots. ** Notable Drinks ** 1867 German Pear (5 Stars): Grey Goose Pear, St. Germain, Cointreau, with Lime and Rosemary flavors. I might be biased with my love for Grey Goose, but this drink rocked my socks! Holy snapples, I found my go to drink here. When you first take a sip, you taste the pear followed up with this overwhelming kick of vodka. I was really jocking this drink, that I ordered another one that night! :) Summary (4.5 stars): For those of you looking for a great date place, I would highly recommend this spot. I feel a little guilty for not giving Mayes five stars, as I was very tempted to do so. The drinks they make here are creepers, as these liquid master pieces not only taste very good but also get you quite buzzed with the quickness. I only had three drinks, yet the effect was more like six drinks. I left quite a happy camper, so happy that in fact I was walking the wrong way for our next destination! :)
